Default Building the engine of my F/I Z33

Ok, the time has come to build my Z's engine. I drift my Z and occasionally grip and my future whp goal is appx 500-550whp

This is my current F/I setup @ 9psi (380 DD dyno - 405 DJ dyno)-
(POWERLAB)
- Garrett GT35R Dual Ball Bearing Turbo with .82 A/R Turbine
- TiAL 44mm External Wastegate (Silver Top)
- TiAL 50mm Blow-off Valve (Silver Top)
- PowerLab 23 1/2"x12"x4" Front Mount Intercooler
- PowerLab Polished Stainless Steel Exhaust Piping with 3" Downpipe
- PowerLab Polished Aluminum Intercooler Piping
- PowerLab CNC Billet Aluminum High Capacity Oil Pan Spacer
- PowerLab Custom Extended A/C Line
- PowerLab Stainless Braided Oil Feed and Return Lines
- Denso Injectors 600CC
- Walbro 255LPH Fuel Pump
- Motul motor oil
- UpRev Osiris tune by Function: Tuned
- GReddy Oil Catch Can
- Nismo S-tune exhaust (minus Nismo Y-pipe)

I briefly spoke to Kyle from IPP and he made up the following list to me with a shipping estimate-

Wiseco 96mm/8.8:1 Pistons - VQ35
Eagle Rods - VQ35
ACL Trust Washers - VQ35
ACL Main Bearings(STD) - VQ35
ACL Rod Bearings(STD) - VQ35
L19 Head Studs - VQ35
Oil Pump - VQ35 RevUp
VQ35HR Head Gasket
VQ35HR Head Gasket
Engine Gasket Kit - VQ35
Rear Main Seal - VQ35

How does that list look to everyone? I would like to use high endurance parts that will last a very long time since I'll own this car and track it multiple times every year. I'm considering buying Tomei/Cosworth products but I don't want to waste money on a product for just the name.

Grip IMHO is just driving the car the way it was naturally meant to be driven. Drift is an entirely different animal. One hard run can produce some sort of failure pretty easily. When you talk about drifting with a FI'd Z33 everything changes vs an occasional Highway Rider. A solid EMS along with some other stuff people are talking about like crankcase ventilation, billet girdles, coolant mods all should be considered i would think. GL

Dont know the build, but you will need better cooling than stock, a dry film lubricant on crank, rods, skirts and under piston's will help incase you get any oil starvation due to cornering, and pick you up some extra hp especially the under piston coating

I've been drifting my Z for about a year now - nothing new. I usually hit very high rpms (often in 2nd, sometimes in 3rd) and I'm concerned with the constant stress I'm putting on my engine. My build intension is not only for power but to ensure I have competent components. Thanks for the heads up though..

'a dry film lubricant?' Can you explain.

That's two people mentioning cooling. Honestly, I'm stock ATM. Should I go ahead and purchase cooling mod's before my engine build? I was under the impression that the Z's cooling system was good enough for a engine build and F/I car.

I would upgrade it. Engine cooling, Oil Cooler, and even Power steering cooler.

Thanks everyone. I spoke to Kyle, and JasonZ-ya about cooling earlier today. That'll be my direction for the time being. I'll post again after I've installed the cooling modifications.
