Hey guys,

Does anyone know any shops that can rebuild these turbos here in the US? The shop I am working with Corner3 is checking to see if they can be rebuilt by PE in Japan but I wanted to see if anyone had any recommendations for here in the US. I believe these are dual bearing turbos IIRC.

I called them and spoke to someone in technical support. They don't work on IHI turbos.

Hey guys

Wow this is my first post in 4years or something. I have looked into rebuilding them. No one. Does it period. That's why I was forced. To purchase new ones every time. The cheapest way is to get the cartridges only and install the compressor and turbine housings on it. The cartridges were about 1100 versus the turbo cost of 1400 if memory serves me right, and that was a few years back.

Actally, they do rebuild them in Japan. You can go through PE USA offices, but the girl that works there is pretty useless with respect to real time help. They quoted me 600 each to rebuild them in 2005. I opted for new ones at that point, as the lead time was unrealistic 2+ months.

These are one of the best and most reliable turbos there are. Thats why they are so expensive (surely part of the reason is because they are modified by PE as well). Inconel internals can't be beat. But in order the realize that reliability they need the water hooked up. PE leaving that out of the kit is simply unforgivable.

When I called to inquire about rebuilding they said PE no longer likes to rebuild them.

Gurgen, hey man, what's up? I think most all Garrett turbos use inconel turbine wheels. Do the PEs use inconel for other components also?

BTW what did that 5" FMIC do to your power curve? I don't think I ever saw another dyno posted.
