Default Turbochargers/Supercharger and automatic transmissions

Hi guys I'm planing to get a TT or supercharger in a week or so but what affect would the added horsepower gain of a TT/Supercharger have on a 350z 04 with an automatic transmission? Would the transmission be able to handle the added power?

Or I need some sort of modification ?

Thanks and excuse my noob question

Mainly depends on how you drive it. An SC would be safer for the tranny.

on a stock block it wont matter. properly setup SC and turbos have similar powerbands.

you will need a huge tranny cooler and valvebody kit regardless.

I would highly recommend adding a tranny cooler along with a valvebody upgrade to your transmission. The driving part means like how hard you get on it, are you flooring it all of the time from light to lift banging through gears. If so, this will cause the tranny to very hot very quickly. Heat is the tranny's worst friend. However, if you add what I mentioned before, it will be able to take abuse a lot better.

I would also recommend getting tranny temp gauge just to monitor the temperature. This way if it gets hot, you know when to take it easy for a while in order to let it cool down. If it gets too hot the car will go into limp mode (Will keep the car in 4th gear only) until the tranny cools down.

I had a twin turbo on my auto for a few thousands miles, put down arond 400rwhp and 360ftlbs. No real issues because I monitored it and had the little upgrades I mentioned. If you take care of it and what out for certain things you shouldn't have a problem with it.

A local 350z has the transgo kit installed and i just installed a vortech on his car. It shifts awsome and he doesn't have any problems. It's probably the best shifting/driving auto trans car i've ever driven.

He is noticing higher than normal (but not high by any means) coolant temp. This is because the trans cooler is inside the radiator and the trans is heating up. We are going to install an aftermarket trans cooler to help cool the trans better and remove heat from the radiator.
