Default 3.9 or 4.0 final drive with a supercharger

Hi, I'm trying to decide if its a bad idea for a DE motor with a short redline (6500) and vortech supercharger to shorten the gears. The redline is already short enough with the supercharger, but i was hoping that if I keep the rpm high with the shorter final drive that it would keep me in the high boost. Anyone had experience with this setup?

Get JWT valve springs and shims and increase redline. If you're not built, be careful above 375wtq. Maybe 350. Usually, torque is much more linear with SCs, so you have a little more room. Built block will always hold more. Stock block is good for 400wtq, at most.

You may want to search on the topic. I know there were a few detailed, and lengthy posts regarding SC setups.. I am pretty sure Sentry had a huge thread about SC's. I am also certain that Str8dum1 had discussed this awhile back..

GL! (searching before you post will save you around here)

I'd save your money personally... Shorter gears are over rated unless you plan on keeping stock HP.

Yeah, sounds like a plan, i checked everyone's opinion's on other threads, some people actually go down instead of up. But I'm not really running that much hp. Just stock vortech and exhaust for power. Everything else is stock engine wise. I was only thinking of doing the final drive, cuz i needed my nismo lsd rebuilt, and wondered if i should have it done at the same time.

I take my DE with Vortech to 7k with Crower 2's and stock valve springs. I wouldn't go any more than that though. You really only need to upgrade them if you plan on going higher than that.

Out of curiousity, where are you having your NISMO LSD rebuilt?

Gonna go to Kaaz for the rebuild. Ray said he could get me a rebuild kit.

So in conclusion, no upgraded final drive, too hard to hook up the tires with all that together i'm assuming.

I am now thinking of building the engine for a higher rpm. I'm a little skeptic on taking the engine to higher rpm than stock.
