That is an unrefusable offer, but I really need to think it through.

Will call you later today.

i feel your pain. I'm done with mine. I will say this: don't blame the 350z or the vq block. It's not the engine's fault when someone tears into it and modifies it. No matter what engine platform you work on when you start modifying it the factor for something to fail goes up.

I had the bolt hole for a head stud on my block pull out after refreshing my internals. Apparently there is magic bolt size that is imposible to find a helicoil for so i'm up a creek. This car has been down since january. I'm so sick of having a modified car. The **** has seriously outweighed my fun so i'm probably going to get it out of my garage and get a decent fun car in it's stock form: nsx, porsche, tt supra. Something like that which is fun and i do'nt have to screw with it to have fun in it.

i completely feel your depression.

it's not stupid.

i worked for about 6 years building engines for a MX race team. 2 boys, same bikes. It seemed like no matter what i did michael's bike would always have problems and chris's bike ran like a champ with no issues. I used the same parts and same techniques and tuning on both. It was just random chance with some things on michael's bike that had nothing to do with the fact that it was a kawasaki because chris rode the same exact bike.

Don't get discouraged just because it's the same car that had problems before. Each build is different in itself.

Well, if you can get it for a small price then go ahead and try 1 more time. But, if you know what happens again...you better be "Done with this ****!"

The problem is that I already spent over $30k and to quit now and sell everything for $7k-$9k and end up with a stock Z will drive me crazy.

It would drive me crazy also if i hear you gave it away for that cheap

If it were me and funds were not ready available...I would park the car and save up. I am a nice guy...but to give things away for the prices listed above...that would make me a dumbazz nice guy

I see the VQ taking a few jabs lately...I don't agree with any of them...If its done right it will run right. Call it luck (and I am not the only one) but I had no issues with build one or two. I know the least of anyone on here about the VQ's...but I take what I know from other platforms and apply it here.

If my motor fails within a certain time limit...its the builders fault...its that simple...no discussion.

IMO...Get a builder that can AFFORD to stand behind their work....the last thing you want to hear from a shop when they F up your car is that they have $$$ issues.

Best of luck my friend.

Dont go back to stock, dont sell it.

Like XKR said, sit on it awhile if its possible for you.

I have too much going on personally and at work to think of fixing my Z, so its sitting and will be sitting a long time. Havent seen it in months and has literally 2miles driven since December.

All this time away from it makes me miss it a lot but most times its out of sight, out of mind!

Good thing is Im filling up the patience tank for when I get back to it again lol!

reading those posts; and am thinking to keep my Z below 500 whp mark!
reducing whp might be a good option to consider? as failure rate will be reduced as well.

any possibility for an engine swap? a v8 or tt 2jz? Emirates are near by

I opted to sell mine but it was a working car....and I basically got a cash offer, sight-unseen......
parting out is a PITA.....

If mine would have popped I have no idea what I would have done, its hard to say until you are in that spot....like you said, its a tough pill to swallow to drop lots of $$ and have nothing to show for it.

I do have to say though, I miss it less and less every time I go to the pump!!!! <10mpg would not be fun right now in Chicago.

Because I don't live in the U.S, its hard for me to get engine builders to stand behind their work. They will come up with a million excuses to not to.

Hell, my GTM TT kit's BOTH exhaust manifolds broke on me after a regular car wash and I couldn't make GTM to send me replacements, they quoted me new ones price
