Default Over heating with A/C on and with warm days

Here is a short explanation. Everything was fine until a couple of years ago. I was in a canyon and noticed that my gauge was almost to the top. turned on the heat, that helped til i could pull over. Let it cool down and left the a/c off and no issues on the way home.

Drove it around to see if it would over heat and no issues unless i had the a/c on and the outside temp was in the 90's.

Last year I upgraded my cooling system with a mishomoto thermo, radiator, hoses and fans.

This seemed to help again, but still having the same issues but i haven't had the gauge get passed the 3/4 mark. i tend to turn off the a/c when that happens. Also, it starts to climb after driving for 20+ mins.

I drove from salt lake city utah to las vegas nevada when the outside temps were cooler and didn't have a problem and this was before i upgraded the cooling system.

I do have a vortech super charger.

The issues continued to happen after the install of the thermo. So i am doubting its the thermo. Dont think I have a coolant leak. Coolant levels are the same.

I was thinking it could be the air not being able to escape. Got some hood shims. Which i think helped a little.

going to try a leak down test next week just to rule leaking out for sure.

Thinking the bumper air duct would help to get cooler air in.
Thinking of getting an oil cooler.

Would a bad head gasket be a culprit?

So i am wondering what you guys think would be the issue? and any suggestions?

you have air in your coolant. follow bleed procedure. also make sure both fans are running with ac on.

yep, sounds like air in the lines. It's very hard with our cars to get it all out.

Throwing aftermarket parts at a problem won't fix it either as you have seen. I'm baffled why people buy all this new aftermarket stuff to fix a problem with a cooling system that is designed and does work properly without mods.

Leakdown test might not be a bad idea but i doubt that's the cause. Could also be something obstructing the coolant passages.

With 523hp on a stock cooling system my car has never been over 211* with 100* outside temps.

Also, like raj said, make sure BOTH fans turn on with the a/c. 1 fan turns on for the normal temp regulation but there should be the second fan running continuously whenever the a/c is turned on. That fan should always stay on.
