Stillen about to announce HR kit
Done that. They're moving to OBD ONLY (plus visual)....no tail sniff. If non approved CARB can pass OBD then all is good, since you can pay the man to overlook visual.
HOWEVER>>>>you can't **** around with OBD, so if your 450WHP motor can't pass the scan you are FUUU###KD!

I hate CA emission laws!

NOPE. True, a cell light will fail you for sure, but OBD looks at *hidden flags* too. I was busted for that and failed. You can and will fail if you have a cell and just turn it off before you test. They do allow some hidden flags..depends on what they are and how many you have.

NOPE...I could see how ya might think that though.
If GTM comes out with CARB, I might consider them as well, should I decide to FI my car. That decision will be a biggie for me though, since I like my HR the way it is and the $$ involved is a barrier for me right now.

If you like your car the way it is, would you honestly consider cutting up your hood? I don't know about you, but that is a HUGE turn-off for me. I'd rather stay N/A than spend $6+k and have to cut up my hood.
I think spending $7k would be more of a concern than modest cuts under the hood.

This was done on our mustang dyno cause our dynojet was inop at the time so I wasnt able to get dynojet numbers that day. 425whp @9lbs sounds about right to me. DE and revup need to run the 2.87 pulley making 12-13lbs of boost the be in the 425+ range
I thought I heard about a 370Z popping a motor with a Stillen kit on a Stillen tune? I thought that was funny because Kyle from Stillen and I had an argument about needing to do a dyno run to check the AFRs he claimed it was NEVER needed on this kit and a waste of money
I know Stillen tried to keep the failure quiet but i read a thread on it awhile ago. For some reason i have never really liked Stillen
maybe it was the crap kit they put out for DEs. I also think that intake manifold is ugly as sin.
I guess for HR guys with next to no options it is nice to have something even if it is an ugly water to air kit that hacks up your hood and only makes 377whp and 288ftlbs

Anyway....here's the kicker...if you're in Cali your choices are limited to CARB approved set ups..unless ya wanna roll the dice come smog time.
Ok that make's more sense. I know I'm using my Rotrex set up as a reference and it's obviously a completely different animal. I was looking more at the torque rather than the peak HP. Thanks for the info though.

The picture above is what's left of a VQ37 rod and piston from a 2008 G37 coupe which had the Stillen supercharger kit. From what I have been told the kit was installed by a certified Infiniti dealership and covered under warranty. In this configuration it was working quite well. Two days before catastrophy the owner had Stillen headers added to the car and was informed there was no need for a tune change. The failure happend when the owner was in 2nd gear and punched it. He had a loss of power, gauges showed nothing, and he looked into the mirror to see oil and peices of transmission littering the middle of the road
Here is our recent experience with a Stillen / Vortech supercharger kit on an 2007 350Z HR. Comparison of out-of-the-box install, Haltech upgrade, and Nitrous upgrade.
FWIW, there was some slight knock on the uprev/stillen flash out of the box.
