Default Sudden High oil pressure??

Hey guys, I haven't posted here in a while but I need a little advice.

Drove the car last week everything dialed in perfect. Started it up today let it warm up noticed at idle the oil gauge is sitting at 90 (usually around the 2nd tick) And crusing it was pegging 120 not normal at all. Also when I shut the car down and turn it on but not start the ending the gauge jumps to 60psi. Check all vitals levels are pefect everything else checks out fine.

Bad sending unit or bad gauge?

I'm pretty it's the sensor. I had the same issue. Eventually it was just pegged all the time.

i think if your oil pressure was really that high, oil would be forced out the breather in witch case you would know from the smoke comming from ur engine. if you have a oil catch can you should check it.

Yeah the oil catch can was normal. Is it necessary to drain the oil to change the pressure sensor? Seems like it's above the pan.

unless the VQ is different from other motors, you should be able to swap the sender without draining the oil.

I can tell you high pressure does not force oil out of anywhere because my newly built stroker runs at 120 cold and 90 at wot warm due I assume to the deletion of the squirters.

I verified it was not gauge related and will soon have aftermarket temp and pressure gauges in.
Hope the sender fixes your issue op.

Just wanted to report back. I picked up the part at Nissan and attempted to change it out. Due to my APS TT Kit it's making things super tough to get the sensor. Where the sensor would be is now a 3 hole block adapter for the oil lines going to to the turbos and the sensor now sits on the top of this block so it's a PITA to get to. Need to run to pick up some special tools to get it, but I should have it switched out tomorrow.

I did unplug the sensor and turned the key on and noticed the gauge was at 0 like normal so definitely is the sensor. Heads up for anyone with a APS TT kit.

Reporting back, that pesky sensor was the culprit, everything is working fine now!

Good to hear maximum

Which way did you go about to remove the sensor?

I would think the easiest way is to take off the support bracket for the alternator but would like to hear how you went about it.

Just use a deep socket. Sway bar and support brackets are
Not in the way.

I drained my oil when I swapped mine.

Exactly, once I removed the alternator bracket it was cake. Just used a 15/16 wrench to get it out from there which barely fit.

Cux350z, with the APS kit you can't use a deep socket, our sensors is now moved to the top of the oil pan due to the adapter block thats replaced there for the oil lines going to the turbos.

Same thing happened to me. Startup = 60 then 120+ on highway. Next week it stayed above 120. Changed the oil pressure sensor for $79.99 and fixed the problem.
