Suggestions from experienced FI'ers

That one there stings, because i easily have the money into my car to have a GTR paid off.
Back to the OP, The Boosted Performance single turbo kit is the way i would go if you NEED twins i have the JWT 530 and the 850bb kits and I have been very happy with them. Not sure if this is still true but if you bought a new kit it would have to be bought and installed at a certified JWT installer and they are limited in Canada there is only one in Western Canada last time I checked.

^ ha. If the GTR looked a little less "chunky" then it might sting. You got all show and all go - can't knock that. Not to mention all the GTR transmission issues. The horror stories haven't kept me off that platform though. Looks have. Just doesn't appeal (to me). Black is the best, but only because it hides all the lines.

I have since found two shops that have installed and tuned so it is looking a bit better. Seriously considering the BP single undermounted setup, but would love to hear form those who have them and what extras they have added to the stock motor, And what gains/reliabilty have been like.

Reliability varies as not all blocks and tunes are created equal. Driving style matters as well. Beat it to death every time it leaves the garage and it most likely will shorten its lifespan, save boost for the rare special occasion and it may last years.
VQ, F/I and reliability don't really belong in the same sentence IMO.
How you would choose not to purchase from a fellow Canadian is beyond me... don't you guys have laws that mandate things like that up there

My only regret going TT was NOT building the bottom end, at a minimum, when I went TT. I've have one of the "freak" VQ-DE engines that didn't pop with my abuse and power; 10psi (peaked @ 15psi on a track day) and 420whp +/-.

I bet the 'built' bottom end wouldn't last as long as the 'freak' stock bottom end at that power level. Built VQ's do not have nearly the same tolerances as from the factory. Ask anyone from the VED club. It's a much bigger issue than most people realize.

VED Club? I don't know... I guess I'm now paying for reliability.

I have an 03' and believe this to be the DE motor( please correct me if I am wrong) I only have 74k on it as it is only a dry run summer vehicle. I would like to see 350-450hp without building just yet.
After reading through all 31 pages of the "winter build" thread by BP i am confident that my Canadian brother from another mother will be my choice> thanks for all the feedback.

If you don't build the bottom end and have a DE you will be limited by the stock rods to appx 400whp (DynoJet). Any single or TT kit will get you there, even the lowly Turbonetics kit.

If I can add to this, being someone who is just now finishing a used APS Twins setup.
- Heed the warnings, do not get a used kit. the extra $1000 you might pay for a new kit is worth it. I've had so many "uggghhh, I hope this is good enough" moments and had to run to the store to so many times to replace missing or damaged nuts and bolts it's ridiculous. On top of it, I haven't started the car yet so who knows what will happen. If it was a new kit, at least I could be angry at either APS or my install work. The unknowns aren't worth the savings.
- If you're installing it yourself, get a mid-mount. If I could do it over again, I would get Boosted Performance's kit.
- Don't fret so much. Everyone will tell you a million things you need to be careful of, and everyone's advice on the minimum requirements is different. I spent so much extra money on things I probably won't need just to be extra safe on my stock block. Fuel return system with rails, Koyo Radiator, 53535 sensors, Haltech dual widebands. It probably would have been better to skip those and buy a built shortblock first for a little more money.
- If installing yourself, set time to actually do it all at once. It's taken me so long because I allowed myself to space it out over an entire winter, "just few hours every day". I also didn't have all of the parts I needed when I started. Priorities in my life changed, and it became an "out of sight, out of mind" thing. Everytime I thought about it, it was "what's one more weekend?". 2 Years later I'm finally prioritizing it over everything else. Mostly because it gets me out of thinking about wedding stuff :-)

So since I have decided to go with the BP kit I am now looking for the right shop preferably in Ontario to get the most out of Osiris tuner and the new goodies.. Any Eastern ontarians in here that can chime in?? I have found a couple but need some feedback from actual peeps.. below are the Two I have found..APH is an Uprev Tuning "specialist" and magnus is the only other shop I can find out here with a dyno.

Marco from Magnus is fairly famous in the DSM/Evo world. A few years ago i would have told you to go there but I have seen some of his recent work on intake manifolds. It looks like he has lost all quality control . I have also heard from a few people that have delt with him that he is a douche bag...but your looking for a tuner not a buddie so I would talk to him anyway feel him out if nothing else he has been tuning cars for a long time.

If you are a top notch tuner...you should be able to say to a prospective customer
" hell ya, I can tune the **** out of what you are runing,...maybe not to the extent that I could with another system but we will do the absolute best regardless of what you are running and be sure you are happy with the results"

I think restylin is out your way too- he might have some input.
Also- goes without saying about the quality and support for the BP kit. Doing it again that's the direction I would go.
so send restylin a note. I think he's in Ottawa as well.
