I hope you guys post pictures while fabbing up the kit. After all you guys just posted an idle turbo and an intercooler... Not saying you aren't working on it or anything condescending like that, just trying to keep the interest in the kit.

Yes, currently the vehicle that is getting the turbo kit is in fabrication and we should have pictures of the fabrication process within the next weeks...

they are using the same turbo as the other kits, and there is only 1 way to route the piping for a top mount, so I would go out a limb and say there will be no difference.

Interested but I have a feeling this kit will be outrageously priced.

The turbo that we are running is a 35 just like the majority of the other single turbo kits (the newer Garret GTX35) because it is a great turbo with a healthy ballance between nearly no lag and great high end power on anything from stock to built engines, but that turbo is also largely used due to the amount of room that is available to place the turbo up front is very limited. A larger turbo can be used but some more modifications would have to be made and we are trying to make this kit as straight forward as we can without much modification on the customer's end. There is not only one way to route the turbo pippin up front, there are a few ways and the way that we have routed it is the most efficient. Running the pipe under the engine bay you will be reducing air temp and not be heat soaking the pipe after the air has traveled thru the intercooler. The majority of the other single turbo kits that have run their piping the other way have added their own "two cents" onto the previous design and have not determined a way to avoid heat soaking the intake pipe. When you think about it the design change is quite simple on this pipe but very effective. This is just one of the few things that truly makes it different than the others, among the other piping size changes and the turbo housing.

The diameter of the pipe that will be coming off of the turbo on the cold side will not be like the previous kits where a 2.5" to 3" coupler is used and then the remainder of the piping is 3". The design of the piping for our kit that we have used is going to be a 2.5" pipe until the inlet of the intercooler which is 3". No before you say to yourself "bigger is better"... What this does is allow the air to keep the same velocity since it is now not having to overcome a difference in pressure gradients with the larger opening that the previous kits have. The way we have run this pipe will also help in reducing the turbo lag not by a huge factor but will definately help because it will sustain the same velocity up until it reaches the intercooler and then create a vacuum effect thru the intercooler. Air will always want to travel the path of least resistance or the path that has the lowest pressure. For example, the same concept holds true in an engine, when a valve opens there is low pressure inside of the cylinder so when atmospheric air, which is pressurized sees this low pressure it will automatically rush into the cylinder and fill the cylinder up as fast as it can to get out of the high pressure zone. Alot of the engine builders in motorsports today use this concept and apply it when it comes time to determine how to increase the volumetric effiency of a cylinder above 100 percent.

I can see where your skepticism may lie in us claiming to have made changes to the design to fix some issues, but this kit will be a much better design than previously comparable kits at a price that is nearly the same if not cheaper. We arent re creating the turbo kit, just fixing the best type for these cars: the single turbo kit. Not remote mount, not twins, not supercharged.... SOHO Motorsports Single Turbo Kit.

Haha sorry guys for not having a lot of info up we are currently doing R&D and keeping it hush for now but good things will be coming soon dont worry. Like we said in the original post, this product will be making its debut at Z Nationals on October 3,4,5. I understand impatience as im one of the most impatient people on earth (racing will do that to ya haha) but I promise all of our R&D is calculated and done to make sure that when this product ends up on your vehicle it is absolutely the best it can be and we want to make sure we have tested and checked and triple checked everything. This kit will be relatively cheap to what is on the market but we all know there is no such thing as a cheap turbo kit, and that is precisely why we want to make sure that that the product your spending your money on is more than what you expected. I will promise you guys that within two weeks we will have some stuff for you guys too look at dyno, drag and track time is only fun if I ever get to share it with all of you

maybe it's just me and my own personal, dwindling interest....but is there a viable market left for what are almost 7-10 year old vehicles now?

I'm all for options, but this car is/was too expensive to turn into a $1000-B16-swapparoo-when-I-popparoo tuner car. Do you think people are going to pick these up for 10-15k and drop another 10-15 into them on this old of a platform?

You may want to have a recommended upgrade package as well regarding cooling, oil, gauges, etc. I probably would have bitten on that 4 years ago

Yes you are correct in the factr that these cars are getting older by the day, but if this forum itself is any indication then its pretty obvious that many people still love these platforms, especially if you go to a drift or race day you will see a ton of these older Z's and G's. As for pricing I think you are mistaken on our price range as our kit will be no where near the 10-15k in fact closer to half that (without putting my foot in my mouth). Also comparing the VQ to a B16 is insane and these cars will never be the equivalent of a Civic. Our plans are to make the kit for the VQ now and the HR by the end of the year and plans to branch out to the new models beginning of next year. The G and Z community is a large group and I think they are always looking for the best and most efficient way of making there cars faster and our single turbo kit will be just that. As for the oil cooler stuff we have actually already been selling cooling kits on this exact forum, check it out - https://my350z.com/forum/engine/5568...mmer-sale.html

That is my point that the VQ and B16 are not in the same ballpark, one is $500+labor, the other is $3-5k plus even more labor. The engine costs won't equalize to a civic level limiting your clientele potential, especially in this economy. I think the interest is less than you think on this aging platform.

At Etown, I just watched civics go 10's and turned around in the stands to watch beat-to-**** 240 cars drifting. The can do this because of the money needed pales in comparison to doing this in a Z...and it always will.

Don't get me wrong, love the options and would consider a built motor/better kit than the PL if the day came...but I think that day has passed me and many others and I'll be in a R32 Skyline or Viper before I dump more money in the Z33. I wish you the best, but I don't think it is there...look at the activity on this forum. It used to be the hot spot, it has been a crawl the last year+ and is one of the most popular 350Z sites.

You are ***** deep in the R&D costs now for this, your payoff will be the information application in future platforms. If the kit is legit, I hope you make it and have done your research on making what you need off of your product lines

I would argue that now the 350z and G35 are getting a lot cheaper so they are becoming more accessible at a lower price point. The people that have been saving up for a while "may" have more money available to spend on these newer kits if they got the car cheaper. But as we've seen from the dreamer threads there are some owners that do not know what they are getting into when they go FI and get turned away quick as they see 'dem duckets start to disappear.

Bottomline: I am glad there are still some shops looking to expand the current performance market for the VQ engines. I wish you the best.

I can see your point but I disagree. There is still a market for these cars as we have many people interested right now, and you may also be over estimating our R&D costs. Not that I am going to delve into that lol but we are in a unique position to make these kits and we are taking advantage of it. Most modern car technology was derived from a racing program at some point and the same thing is applied here. We are using what we learned and have done on our racecar G35 so the r&d was basically something we were doing anyway. We take everything from that and translated it to this new kit and have made something that we think is really special. Chance are this wont be the only turbo kit platform we make, this is just the beginning but as all succesful companies we are starting with what we know best, and no one knows these cars better then us.

Thanks, we love the VQ's and all other types of platforms. We are gonna make this one the best it can be first and then move onto the next one.

I think you are wrong. An r32 skyline is an old car and has an old motor and old everything... Same with a viper in that price range and both have nothing to do with having a turbo vq or not.

Everyday I see someone start a project on a z/g. If you do the work yourself (it isn't that hard) you will save a lot of cash and it is going to cost less than a civic with a bswap and a turbo kit slapped on it.

You can buy a g/z for 8k now (sometimes less). buy this kit for 6k or so (whatever it costs) and make 450whp on a stock de all day long... you can't really buy or build many 450whp cars for 14k other than the z/g platform. Hell building an rb swapped 240 in that power range will cost that. Look at the s14 platform. People still pay a lot for a kouki and will dump thousands into them.

The g is a better race platform and better car to drive daily... it is newer. If people are throwing money at 240s, old hondas, z32s... why not a g35/350z?

Go to a meet... you will see about half the cars at it are boosted or have thousands in na mods into them. I was " done with mine" this last summer and just dumped another 2-3k into it to make it better because I just can't seem to stop.

My post is all over the place... I am tired. SOHO is a z/g shop and they are still doing fine. That is proof enough. Enjoy the r32...

That WAS all over the place

I'm not comparing a R32 or Viper to a Z, I'm saying one of those will be my next toy car, that'll all I meant...
