Default GT35R replaced with Precision Billet wheel

I have been told that i can send my garrett in to Precision and have them replace my wheel with the more efficient and lighter weight billet wheel. An STI guy i was speaking with told me he did this on his and he seen a huge shift in his curve and gained 40 whp. Think this adds up?

precision turbos are not garrett turbos. I've never heard about them modifying their impellers to fit other manufacturers turbos and housings.

Just sell the garrett and buy a precision. The housing sizes are quite different. Garrett uses too small of a turbine wheel for the size of the compressor. Design of the entire turbo needs to be taken into consideration when working with efficiency.

I actually just got off the phone with precision. They said they have stopped that service as they are no longer garrett suppliers. However, they use to do this.

Binder, Whats your take on the SP quick spool valve?

ya after their promod turbos gernaded alot, fingers were pointed, garrett and PTE stopped working together

if you can fit a QSV and have a big divided turbine housing, its well worth it

So I have to send my GT3582R off to garrett to have them replace the exhaust housing with a divided one.

While its there what do you suggest I go to if i am going the QSV route?

Think id be better off buying a GTX37R with the divided housing? I think this would still fit my powerlab setup.

How much faster do you want to spool? I think this would a waste on a VQ with a GT35R…

if you are blowing your tires off in 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc you dont need any faster spool.

I'm talking about earlier not faster. There's a difference between hitting 10psi in a 500 rpm band and hitting it 500 earlier.

I think it would be a waste of money to pay for the upgrade and qsv on a gt35. On the gt37 maybe but even then probably still a waste of money.

You could just use one of the new billet turbos from precision that will spool faster and not have to use a qsv for probably the same amount of money and you will have a higher overhead of potential power.

To the question, yes, with divided housing and the qsv you will spool sooner/faster.

ya, more trq at lower rpms = more tires getting blown off.

i personally wouldnt waste the money as those QSVs are not inexpensive by any means.
