on the blown motor? NO! I paid SAM cokksukker Zawahara 500.00 for "engine coatings-complete package" and he didn't coat a single thing....I was sent photos 3 yrs ago when he began building the engine...I saw no coatings of the piston crowns..I flew to CA and saw the short block..he said "I told you you didn't need that stuff and you agreed"...I said, oh no no no no...I paid you for the coatings and I want the coatings..he said he would disassemble the engine and coat all parts.
Now when the engine blows, we see he coated NOTHING.....that's why til my dying breath I'll call that fat fkk Sam COKKSUKKERZAWAHARA.....
My new engine parts will only have the pistons coated by JE..thats where Brian Crower is getting the pistons.
ALSO, seems Sam gets cheap Chinese rods and rebrands them as his own...he has the stroker rods made slightly longer than normal stroker rods and has arias special pistons made so you are using proprietary rods/pistons with his motors...if it blows, you have to go to him or know who he was using for parts, or just do as I did and go back to off the shelf dimensions and get away from his GET THST MONEY bllsht parts.
His little plastic ring he left on the piston (deliberate or accident? REMEMBER, he didn't clearance the block for the stroker as well).
cost me 8000.00 what a decent business man huh..

I RECCOMEND SWAIN TECH IF YOU HAVE 2-3 WEEKS TIME TO GET YOUR PARTS COATED... they just coated all my motorcycle parts and do great work.

Displacement isn't the key those other motors have over ours... It's more about cylinder count, materials and size.
V8's are bigger and harder (iron obviously). Bigger cranks, bigger bearings, bigger everything. More square and a billion and one ways to put them together. Why do you think those 4.8's are so damn tough? Do you really think that they have amazing forging in their rods?
No. They just have better dimensions, and more cylinders/rods to disperse the load. Displacement certainly helps, but with turbos you really don't need that much displacement to play HP games.
The VQ could be a great platform, but the GTR will always outshine (obviously) with that drivetrain.
I'm surprised people haven't put one and one together and started half filling (at the top) vq35hr blocks and building those. That would hold power like a pig. And you could use the vq37 crank (like what 300 or 400$) in there with some custom pistons and just let it eat.
The fact is, more and more people with less and less money are building and buying these cars. Less ingenuity. Less popularity. Even a year ago this section of our site was still flooded with posts.

Hey, I started down this path 3.5 yrs ago..money has been spent..It will remain as is...wish I hadn't done it? HELL YES!! but too late to turn back now...cars suck bikes rule...

Been hot rodding since before I was born but you are treating this like an 18 year old with daddy's money funding this... I have tried to be supportive when I see the opportunity, you just make it really hard some times...

roll bar finished..seats ordered arias new pistons ordered..sent to swain tech for coatings.......cylinders sleeved with dry type ....painting underbody parts, cans etc...

its NOT wet sleeves that drop on occasion...its dry sleeves....Tim at SFR is handling that for me..tks GTM for building me a fkd up engine that I have to sleeve, rebore and rebuild after ten minutes!

Drag racing only? I've never heard of this on our platform. Will be interesting to see the outcome!

well, its done for the ability to overbore and still have a good sleeve I am told....I believe it still uses the std water jacket..its a darton sleeve...you can see them on their site.....you just overbore the stock sleeve but not all the way out like wet sleeves....then press in the new....Sam's plastic fkd my pistons and cyl. walls.
