Default Helicoil Help

I'm kinda new working this deep in to a car project. Yesterday I removed the right turbocharger to do some clocking. While off I thought I'd clean up the stud threads (M8 - 1.25).

As you can see one stud backed all the way out and obviously at another time some one had trouble and installed a Helicoil.

I have never worked with these. Is this an easy fix?

I'd take it to a pro at a machine shop, and have it done right. There are several different types of thread inserts. Easy to do with the turbo off the car, and if you get it done right, you'll only have to do it once.

Helicoil install is pretty easy but you would need to buy the install tool and the little helicoil tab puncher, might as well just pay a machine shop to do it, much cheaper.

Bought the kit off Amazon ~ $20. Pretty straight forward. I did have to shorten the coil a little and breaking off the tang was a little challenging.
