08 350z hr or ls2 swap
Hi I have an 08 350z and I want to get into drifting and future twin turbo but I don't want to go all out and the motor isn't reliable I just wanted to know if it good for drifting I want to pick it up to 600hp ---1000hp ik it's how I take care of the car but I just wanted to know if it can take a beating
You're going to take a slight pummeling for posting a question that you could've found the answer for pretty easily with some googling and using the search function in this forum...but I'll share what I know to help you out.
Bottom line....yes, the HR is a great engine, can be boosted and still be reliable as long as the work is done by a competent shop.
Transmission is only good for about 400-425HP though, so that will have to be upgraded.
Can you afford all these upgrades? You'll be over fifteen grand easy, or much higher depending on specifically what you want to do and how.
Just enjoy the HR would be my advice, many add HP out of trying to impress people...it doesn't matter what other's think man.....and unless you are an experienced track driver, there is no reason you need 600-1000HP when the Z has plenty of pull and speed to have all the fun you want without killing yourself or others on public roads.
Two cents of advice? Just add a true dual exhaust (Motordyne TDX2, Motordyne ART pipes, K&N air filters, and get a tune...you'll be loving the extra bit of horse, the sound, and the entire experience of a great handling car that is controllable and a blast to drive.
Enjoy your car, and welcome to the forums,

PS: whoops...my bad..you mentioned drifting and I forgot....to answer your question, yes...the 350z is known for being a well balanced and reliable car for drifting. Look up Carl Rydquist on google.
