Default New PB 11.4 at 122

Its been a while since I post, so I figured id share some recent events with my car.

She ran 11.4 at 122mph and 1.9 60'
1/8th was 7.5 at 97mph

For those that do not know the car:
97 Turbo Auto Maxima (VQ35 with vq30 timing)
Its no longer a rear mount turbo, I fabricated a front mount.
20psi + 50hp shot

4th gear would not hold no matter what I did, as soon as it went into 4th it just slipped and rpm's would not go up at all, this killed my trap and potential low 11 high 10 sec pass.

Link to more details? Turbo details? Forged internals or no? Stock trans or no? WHat you mean by VQ30 timing? What ECM?

Turbo is a BorgWarner S366 T4 .88ar
It has Wiseco 8.8:1 and Eagle Hbeam rods, stock heads with HR HG and HR head bolts(pre tsunami).
Tranny is stock with Transgo HD2 VB kit and increased line pressure.
Stock ECU with Emanage Ultimate and J&S Safeguard

Its a vq35 swap into a vq30 car, so all you do is use the vq30 timing components(sprockets, chain, covers), this means it has fixed cam timing, and its a direct drop in.

Awesome, thanks for the info.

About the trans slip, you sure it's the trans? Usually RPMs go up not down during slip -- to me it sounds like the engine is cutting power. It's doing the same thing in the previous gear, just not as bad. Have you data logged the event for knock, IAT, timing retard, fueling issues, ect?

I am confident that its the tranny slipping. You can hear it in the video on all 3 passes. Also my log shows RPM did not go up, it stayed the same and there is no evidence of fuel or ign cut. This has also happened to others with the same tranny that have put some decent power through it.

Gotcha... any plans for trans work to resolve it or is it just something you have to live with?

Getting a taller slick will def help, it would keep me out of 4th gear. 3rd should be good to 127-129mph with the taller slicks. Then I can just continue to have the auto stock since 1, 2, and 3 hold just fine (who knows for how many passes).

The other option I am considering is getting a rebuild kit from IPT and rebuilding it myself.

Great work and car! Sucks to hear about the trans slip but pretty decent ET and trap all things considered. I love seeing sleepers beat down on their unsuspecting competition.
