It's drop in when you use the right pistons and rods combo - IIRC VQ37VHR rods w/ VQ35HR pistons. Read this thread which is specified in the thread suprasm pointed you too for the goods: https://my350z.com/forum/vq35hr/4716...l#post10048222

Since you already have an HR, why take risks, spend money and time to do this??? There's much more difference between the Nissan 3.5 & 3.7 engines than just that little size difference.

What if after you do ALL that & get lucky by not having major issues, what if that 3.7 doesn't produce more power but less.

HR and VHR are supposed to have the same deck height. You would take the VHR crank and rod length. You will want to use HR style pistons because VHR pistons do not have the exhaust cam valve reliefs since the VHR heads have static exhaust cams.

Forged HR pistons look the same on the top, but the L/R bank pistons are different in how they are clearanced for the oil squirter. Pay attention to that when assembling so you dont have to do it again when a squirter breaks off on first crank of the motor.

Here's the post to set everything straight.

Use a vq37 crankshaft and vq37 rods with vq35hr pistons.

Why?

vq37vhr stroke is exactly 4.6mm more than the vq35hr.
vq37vhr rod length (center to center) is 2.286mm shorter than the vq35hr

At TDC the vq37 crank will put the vq35hr piston 2.3mm higher than it should be. Using a vq37 rod in place of the vq35hr rod, the piston will be pulled back down by 2.286mm. That means the piston will be a mere 0.014mm higher than it should be. For those worried about clearances, keep in mind that oil clearance between the rod and crank alone will push the piston down more than enough to be safe. Account for head gasket thickness and you're now golden. An additional note to add is to make sure the pistons have a small notch or relief on the skirt to clear the oil squirters (info courtesy of Juztin)
