It was not an easy install......

I live in florida, the gas here is 93 octain, so I think tuning would help, but it runs well as it is...

My first real drive was yesterday. The roads were a bit wet due to rain. So I eased down on the throttle in 3rd gear, but the tires (285/30/19's) would just spin @ 65-75mph.

I waiting for the roads to dry today for a real test.

Wow. My Vortech feels pretty fast (tho not as fast as it felt during the first few days) and has put out dyno number ~350 to the wheels, but it's not fast enough to do what you're describing unless the roads are unsafe. Maybe if I mashed down hard in 3rd from 5000 rpms.

Stere,
Yesterday when I grove the car the roads were wet, thats why I had tire spin.

Today was the real test drive (just got back)

Althoght it runs well...... It does not feel like 412hp at the crank.
I don't feel I gained 125hp.

your thoughts.

Tim

one of your posts mentioned you haven't tuned it yet...

that is your problem. if you want maximum power and maximum safety, you will have to get it tuned.

I'm North of Tampa about 40 miles in spring hill.

Vortech rates the kit at 412hp without tuning.
It does not feel like 412hp, more like 360-375hp

You have to remeber three things:

(1) The Vortech kit is tuned *very* conservatively from the factory. In order to be a "bolt-on" without knowing what else you might have modified on the car, they can't really set the A/F ratio to 12.0. From the small sampling of Vortech installs to this point, it appears that the A/F ratio of the kit "out of the box" is around 10.0 at high RPMs.

(2) Boost is based on RPMs at wide-open-throttle. If you're in 3rd gear at 2000 RPMs and you mash the throttle, the car isn't going to have a whole lot more measurable power than stock until you reach 3000-4000 rpms. After that, hold on tight.

(3) Superchargers increase HP more than they increase torque. The neck slapping effect is a function of torque as much as HP.

At the minimum you should call around town to find a place to dyno the car. Have them measure boost and A/F during the dyno runs. If you're not above 350 rwhp you should pay the $500 or whatever to have someone reprogram the SS box to a conservative 11.5 A/F or whatever, along with sufficient timing retard.

Although generally true, different types of S/C's effect TQ in different ways, an Eaton type will usually give better low end torque and performance, a centfigural (like the Vortech and ATI) usually lag in torque till about 3000 rpm's.... I am not saying you did not know this, I just did not want someone to get the wrong idea (although again that is a pretty acurate generalization of S/C especially compared to the TT's that are out)

For those that have installed and dynoed the Vortech, how much RWHP can be expected "out of the box"...315?? more than that?
