Default My attempt for 500 whp

I am trying to get my Zr to 500whp on a vortech.

The motor:

Arias 9.5-1 pistons
Pauter I-beam Rod
Port and polished
3 angle valve job
balanced and blue printed
bored .020 over
wsx dry film lubricant on all bearing/friction surfaces
heat treated coating on pistons, valves and combustion chambers
Micro polished crank
HKS head gasket
Nissan HR valve springs
Arp head studs, main studs, and rod bolts
ACL rod bearing, main bearing, and thrust washer
Pathfinder cooling mod

Fuel system:
DW 1200 injectors
walboro 485 pump
Admin tuning Dual feed return system
exclusively on e85

Forced induction:
Vortech v3 sci
287 pulley and fluidamper
GTM pulley mod
Kinetix SSV (new style)
TIMROD

Exhaust:
Invidia N1
Momentum cat delete y pipe.

Tuned on uprev.

I am making low 424 whp and 380lb/ft of torque in hot and humid Lousiana at 12 psi on an extremely conservative tune!

How do i get to 500?

Thanks in advance.

Your on E85, with a built motor crank up the timing and raise your redline to 7200ish.

Quick question why do all that work and not put good springs and cams in the car?

OldmanZ350 has a Treadstone TR1245 Intercooler and sees great gains from his car, if you are using the basic Vortech Intercooler or an eBay cheapy like me, your intake temps are probably very high from ambient under boost. Cooler air allows for more advance timing and in turn more power.

I bought the motor used. I would have gone with cams, but it was too good of a deal to pass up.
I was also told that the HR springs would be sufficient for my needs.
Cams are in the plans. Maybe by the end of the year.

Gonna be pushing that sci hard to get the power you want. I would send blower to Vortech for the si upgrade. It's cheap and makes great power. 550hp@17psi on my old setup.

I agree.
I have an oil cooler, stillen oil pan, and only use Amsoil 10w40.

I didnt list it, intitially, because i doubt that has anything to do with making power.

What was your pulley setup like?

How much did you get on the sci?

What IC do you have?

You will never make 500whp @ 12psi on your setup

1. change out the Intercooler to a TreadStone TR-1245

2. Change to a V2 Ti-Trim

3. change to a 34T/28T Cog setup

And you should be good for 625ish who Range

And YES, you can Advance the Ignition Timing a bunch more with E85

Hope this helps

I am powdercoating a bunch of engine bay stuff once i get it dialed in.
I have the stock intercooler but i am about to order the one that you suggested, right now.
How much whp do you estimate (you would have the best guess) do you think i can get with the new intercooler and a lot more timing while still keeping the v3 sci head unit?

Will a quility Tune and E85 should be able to make 560-580whp IMO

You will need a free flowing Intake and a free flowing Exhaust to get that though.

And you need to step up the speed of the SC with the 34T28T Cog setup

I've got very good breather mods but I'm a little surprised that you are at 424whp making that kind of boost....

Granted we spent days on the dyno trying to get the powerband I wanted (road race car), but we peaked at 427whp on a 3.33 pulley (8.3psi) before backing it down to my class max of 410 (flat as a board from 6000-7100rpm). 2.87 and ethanol would put the car around 500whp w/o a whole lot of issue. This was on a dynamics fwiw.

well, motor showed low compression and some scoring. also overspun the crap out of that si.

getting a 11:1 comp motor built, c2 cams and upgrading to TI trim.

Well your running a conservative tune and low compression..

Run a strong tune or raise your compression.

I dont think i want to go higher than 11:1 especially with the TI.

You are right on the tune, however.

I didn't see you went back to a higher compression.

I only read the OP of 9:1

Yes, that was my original/current motor with a SI. The new motor will be 11:1 with a ti that wont be spun as high as the SI.

Idk I'd say you should be good. Especially if you follow about what everyone else here has offered for advice.

You got some good advice from some pretty prime members here.
