id like 2 know how much if possible did you spend on your engine? if possible just the price of everything on your engine without the turbo. Was planning on doing exactly what you did as I save up money, just wanna see where I need 2 get to.

bnk1004, the shortblock cost me about $6000 including parts and machine work, and approx. another $4000 for the heads including cams, parts and machine work.

It could cost you a little less considering that there are cheaper parts out now and depending on how much the machine shop charges you.

kudos that's nice! You spent too much money man. But I bet you it's worth it eh? Bet you can't wait to pull up on your "other" dream car (Porsche 911 GT2) and spank one of them suckers and burn off looking clean! Lolz. Well, what you spent for the motor is a lot. Bet if you knew how to send the block and head out and put it together yourself, you'll save tons of money!

Kudos,

I just saw your car today... all I can say is WOW! It looks like the engine is going in today... I got lucky, and got to see it out of the car... wish I had my camera.

Congrats on the Bat Outta Hell car

350Now, No it's still an open deck block, i left it that way for cooling purposes besides i think it should be able to handle it since the motor is short horizontaly (its torsionaly rigid, i think).

wonko99, i'm glad you saw it man, i only wish i can. My brother is a little more up to date with the car as he lives in Austin, but i'm just sad i'll be missing the first start up.

an open deck block doesn't cool any better than a closed deck. first because the head gasket effectively closes off the open water jacket, secondly because the head's cooling passages are closed, with only a few holes to let coolant flow through.
