Default Vortech complete kit not working properly help please

Hello guys,

New in this writing from Greece and i hope my topic is not too basic for you but i could use some help.

Bought the Vortech complete kit recently
Vortech V3 sc
Part number
4NZ218-050L

For my 350z 2005. Installed it all looked fine but there was always a lack of power so much that it almost felt like OEM. Ie the car is not with the ‘base’ case SS BOX box power its much less.( see attached)

Unfortunately i have tracked and driven the car since then but last week i decided to take it on a dyno (dynojet).

I am posting photos of the duno measurement which were hopeless at 246whp almost OEM. Boost pressure showed at 0,41 bar.

After doing my research here, with my mechanic and friends in the industry, i would like to post my questions and if you could please help me/guide me where to seek the solution.

-boost pressure seems ok (?). Should i be checking for boost leaks ? Or 0,41 bar looks healthy? Do you like the boost pressure graph?

- SS BOX code 5A001-354 timing control box 05,G35.

i am more than certain the issue comes from the box. I read some threads that people have been sent the wrong box altogether does the code above seems correct or have i been sent a box for the Infinity G35?

i have sent an email to my distributor, Vortech and SS abou this but any help will be appreciated.

if i find what is wrong will proceed either programminng further the box or maybe taking an uprev licence but i dont want to go through this before finding what is wrong first.

Last, do you think i may have damaged the engine this time? The car does have 2 gaps in power (can be seen in the graph) at around 3500rpm and at around 5000rpm. I am sorry also to say that lately it feels even with less power.

What should i check for possible engine problems or i am being too cautious.

Any help is appreciated.

With regards
Alex

Hi Alex,

Would like to help you, but there are NO Attachments.....

List all of your modifications, Details about Kit, Blower, etc.

1. Did you read AFR's on Dyno? This is a MUST

2. Do you have the Vortech Fuel System with the added Fuel Pump and FMU? Works just ok for a stock system

3. Your Boost is very Low for stock Kit. ,41 Bars is = to 5.94 psi, Stock kit should about 8 psi.
Also, Stock Kit will only give you about 320-330Whp with V2 or V3 Sci-Trim, the S-Trim would be more.

4. Basically only 2 thinks can cause Low Boost, assuming Blower is Good.

a. Belt Slip
b. Boost Leak
c. Both Together

Default R4 logs

Sending you first 3 pictures from the logs we took. Highest boost pressure we saw was 5(!) psi at 6640rpm, so definitely something wrong there and 2psi at 4750rpm which should have been like 4psi.

also sending dyno measurements

3 next pictures are from stock vortech maps i found so difference can be told.

On the fuel map it seemed to be flat we saw only 10.0 readings nothing else any idea why?

Timing map we could not see at all why is that you think?

Any help is appreciated.

No pictures, you didnt really answer Oldman's questions. We need to know your entire setup (Engine, exhaust, etc) to even get an idea on whats wrong. More than likely its belt slip.

Dear Oldman,

i am doing something wrong when sending attachments and you dont receive them.

Have asked the admin and waiting their reply sorry.

Let me see if i can send them one by one.

Today it has been very frustrating as i finally received a reply from Vortech too, saying that the SS box is NOT for European spec cars and it would not work.

So now i need to check if my car has been damaged too.

Let me see if i send this one correctly.

This just a Disclaimer form VORTECH. They are kind of Asses in the support help. Split Second Box Works from MAF ( Mass Air Flow Sensor ) Voltage for AFR's, and Controls Ignition Timing Via intercepting Signal from Sensor to ECU.

I'll pM you my email address, please do'n give it out, thanks

Hi there.

Well never got a reply from the admin so havent been able to send you pics.

Tim has been a big help with pmessages.

Now update on the car.

Checked belt, is ok. Pressed the system and checked blow off valve was ok.

Took a compression off the cylinders and it was found fine.

The only thing we found was a very dirty air filter. Cleaned that the car feels like it gained 15hp.

So better havent noticed gaps in power, but of course the boost and perfromance is not there.

Will fit a wideband gauge next few days to see AFRs.

So, it seems its all in the bad tune until now. Vortech said its incompatible for European spec cars.

Thats where i stand right now.

Alex

Hi Alex

I also have a 350Z RevUp and have a Rotrex C38/91 fitted. Send me a PM, I think I can help; this seems like a tuning issue...

PS: I live in Athens, Greece, we can hook up if you want!
