Why is it that people just don't buy the tuner kits

I just got done reading another post about an ati (maybe) destroying another engine. My question to people is why would you buy there FMU setup which seems to be lacking when you could go out buy the tuner kit and go with the TS ECU. I am running there TT ECU and would have to say its great and most of all safe. People say that its only rpm/throttle position set so if I overboost it will blow my engine, well If I overboost above the 8psi my engine will go anyways. Just a thought for future FI guys.
You can't overboost with a supercharger. There is nothing wrong with Enron Exec's engine other than the dealership not knowing how to install plugs. The DFMU supplied with the ATI kit does the job it was intended to do just fine. Which is supply additional fuel. If the DFMU wasn't working his A/F ratios would be sky high. That's why I always push Wideband A/F gauges to anyone with FI.

I understand that the fuel is not an issue but shouldn't of they added some kind of timing control. I think it would be a lot cheaper to just get the tuner kit and get the TS ecu w/380 injectors which will control both. Overpressurizing injectors is not a good idea. and thats what the dfmu does. by looking in your sig you went out and bought a timining box which is great, but if you would of bought the tuner kit and the ts ecu would have that come out cheaper for you. as for overboosting I was talking about the turbo guys. It would not be hard for me to overboost passed lets say 9psi and my engine would go no matter what ecu I use.
Well, I bought the kit before there was any of this stuff available. I still wouldn't buy the TS ECU. With my timing setup, mine is safer and it has the potential to yield more power than both the TS kit and the Vortech kit believe it or not.
I don't remember the cost difference, but I don't think it was a whole lot. Injectors are expensive and like I said, when I have total control, it's safer.
For some, yes the TS ECU option would be better.

but you're doing the same thing aren't you?........you have a standard retard, a retard based on boost, and a individual retard based on detonation..........the first two are RPM dependent just like the stock ECM timing maps..........the retard based on detonation will be seeing power loss because you've already lost power if you're getting detonation

I have also heard that all the timing boxes seem to give you a gap feeling in power. Is this true? It does not do it with the TS ECU and doesn't even show on the dyno. The only other reason I ask this question is that future people buying might be aware of this option that plan on installing the kit themself. Lets think about this he can cut up his wiring for the fmu and then for the timing box were there is a chance to mess something expensive up, or he can pick up the phone, call TS, send out the ecu which is eay to take out and reprogram it having an extremely clean install with no cutting what so ever on the factory harness. Shops are messing up the tuning on this car with FI kits. just to also let you guys know when i spoke to TS the timing is pulled back so far that I could run 10psi on cali gas and in dallas the octane is 94. So I don't think I have to worry about more potential without doing any internal work.

i hate you guys. I pay $2.40 for 91 octane here in california... grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
i bet my boosted motor would love some 94..
