Someone with the Vortech kit can verify this, but the Split Second unit used is the FTC1 right?

Yes, it's the FTC1 as I've pointed out before.

I have not used other systems so it would not be fair for me to compare them.

Ideally, I would have a program on my laptop that would allow me to easily and safely modify the ACTUAL ECU rather than a piggyback chip whose job it is to fool the ECU. However, barring that, the R4 software is pretty handy I'd say and since I don't live near Technosquare it's much easier for doing iterative tweaks than shipping my ECU back and forth across the country.

Does the Splitsecond FTC1 unit for the the 350 intercept both cam angle sensors as well as the crank angle sensor & MAF ?

Jesse...
As stated earlier in the thread by someone, we don't use it for fuel control. When we get a call asking if the box does anything with fuel we say no because that is how we package it.

thats funny, because there's fuel maps in the split sec box that are not set to default values. Also, the 350Z Splitsec box has different fuel maps then the g35's. So if you don't use it for fuel control, why are their different fuel maps in the different kits? Also, why are there fuel maps at all?

Interesting. I for one am very happy with the fact that the Vortech kit includes the FTC1 because both fuel and timing are important to be able to modify.

Good points dollar99. Sounds like they do use it for fuel control, but it's just that the left hand isn't talking to the right hand. I'm sure everyone is glad that it is included, but discrepencies like this just bother me for the principle of the matter.
