Default RT Cats-Service Eng Soon Lite on

I have a Vortech Kit with RT Cats and Invidia Exhaust. The Cats have been buszing from day 1. I happened to take the cats off for inspections and saw the cat material was loose inside the tubing. Its been vibrating around inside make the buszing sound. So- I desided to gut the cats. Now I'm getting "Service Engine Soon" Light . Can anyone help....
Thanks!

Welcome to the CEL club. For some reason, about 2/3 of the cars with straight pipes will get CEL's, the others will not. Also, it sometimes takes a couple thousand miles for it to turn on.

As mentioned, there is nothing wrong with your car, and it's not dangerous or anything to have that CEL. So you have two choices.

1) Live with it
2) Ask Skidazzle to make you one of those O2 sensor intercept thingys...I dont know exactly what he calls them, but it allows the O2 sensor to function normally, but stops the CEL's.

Just a quick note on the o2 simulator... you basically are cutting the stock rear O2 outputs, and replacing it with a signal which simulates a "normal" non-CEL signal.

I have 2K miles on my setup, and not one CEL has come on. They used to come every 500-700 miles before.

Hi Michael,

I sent you a PM but in case you didn't see it, can you put me on the order list for one of these?

Thanks,
-D

May as well just solder in a resistor.

you are incorrect.

this wont work, as the computer checks for both high and low values. sending just 1 value will either trip the codes: p01146/66 (never going under .48v) or p01147/67 (never going above .63v).

using a simulator actually changes the values to above the upper limit, and below the lower limit. for instance, mine swaps between .33v and .85v every 3 seconds.

derek: i will look at my PMs here again in a bit.

No, the ECU is looking for a drop in voltage between the upstream and downstream o2 sensor. Using the proper resisor will scale that signal down, simulating a drop in unspent fuel after the cat.
