Default Short FI video (showing gauges, rpms, etc)

Here's a little video I shot tonight while playing around with my new digital camera. Windows Media required. Right click, Save As for best results

Vortech sedan @ 10psi

If you look carefully, you can see that the boost gauge showing 10psi right at 7100 rpms; you can also see the A/F gauge, etc.

A few points of clarification. I didn't mash down the pedal in first until after you hear me say "here we go" and I had to let off right at the top of 3rd gear. Sorry I couldn't take it up to the top of 4th--I'll have to save that for the track.

Your car looks like its flying. What mods do you have done other than the Vortech? Do you have the ECU flashed? I have a Vortech but no other mods what do you recommend for me to upgrade?

The best "mod" I can recommend is to have a competent tuner use the R4 software to dial in the A/F settings of your Vortech.

Increasing the rev limit (via the TS L-Spec program) does a lot as well because it keeps you higher in the RPM band. Notice that when shifting from 2nd into 3rd the tachometer only drops to 5500 rpms and the "bottom" of 3rd is at 5psi.

Not as good as a turbo, certainly, but with the rev limit increased you can stay in the well-boosted range during an entire WOT run.

I haven't tracked it with all the latest mods--and I suck at it. Last time I went my shifter (Rogue) had come unglued and I couldn't figure out why I couldn't get the car in gear. I'm waiting for things to cool down around here. Excuses, excuses

I've done extensive R4 programming with each subsequent mod. I'm on the conservative side with timing, pulling 1 degree per 500 rpms starting at 4000 as I recall.

Any time, Sean. Speaking of new stuff, your list of mods seems to have grown somewhat since I last saw your car as well

I haven't dynoed at 10psi so I don't know. I'm planning to dyno this week, maybe lean it out just a bit.

Aw, shucks Nothing compared to what you've got up your sleeve for your car, but thanks nonetheless.

nice video!!!

i agree that the 9lb pulley seems to make boost SOONER too....

you notice higher boost thru-out the revvs??? i am sure it looks that way (am returning my 9lb pulley on monday, as it arrived damaged, with a chip missing out of ne of the 'vanes' of the pulley.....dangit!)

to clarify, you went from 8lb stock pulley to the 9lb unit withOUT remappimg??

i am remapping next week (or the following) to compensate for my exhaust, cats, and pulley..... then i have one more session planned, for the headers..... (once i buy em)

eseemes, I did remap--but what I said was that the cells that the 9psi pulley covers are for the most part not the same cells as those covered by the 8psi pulley (because you're further to the right all the way through the range), so you can actually have one map that is good for both pulleys. Don't know if that makes sense.

As soon as the roads dry out I'm going to do one more run with a different camera angle to see if I can capture the boost, EGT, and A/F a little more clearly.

So the 9lb pulley uses the same fuel map as the 8lb pulley but 1 cell sooner? Then you would have to add 1 more cell at the end at redline? Nifty...

Hey Zimbo....did you happen to see if your tach is reading the same as when on the dyno ? Both times Ive been at the Dyno....operator cuts me off at 6,500 rpm and Im looking at my tack and its just passing 7,000 rpms . Even when I know its off...it hard to get my self to run it up passed 7,000 .And does any one know if that can be adjusted to make it right ?
