Default Questions about Vortech super charger

I know there has probably been posts on this, but I have a few questions that may help me decide on whether or not to get this kit.

1. How much should i expect to pay for the kit. I got a quote for $4600 for the kit. Is that a good price?
2. Are there any Cons about the vortech kit, anything that may be a known problem.
3 How much should install cost on this?
4. How reliable is it? and what about maintenance, what will i have to maintain?

Any help on these questions would really be helpful.

thanks

Is the price for a satin or polished? If its polished then thats a good price.
Id say the only con you will hear is drilling the upper pan. It is NOT a big deal at all, if you need to sell the car you can plug the hole easily.
Install should run 1000-1500 depends on the shop, dealers will be closer to $1500.
Vortech products are VERY reliable, they have been around a long time.
There is little maintenance, when you change your oil it changes the oil in the supercharger. You need to clean the air filter from time to time and thats about it..
Go for it... you will not regret it!

One think to keep in mind is that if you use the stock Vortech air filter location, you will have to remove the supercharger to install a new filter. This is going to be a major PITA...

They have new filter that is smaller and does not require removal of the supercharger. Timrod informed me of it.

this filter installs and removes w/o any blower movement.......

the Z comes w/ a different size/shaped conical filter, taking better advantage of the space infront of the compressor (the coupe has little room whatsoever infront, whereas the Z has a window going thru the rad. support)

you can always request the filter for the coupe, if you buy the kit!!

I have the smaller filter as well. It is the G35 filter. It looks clean and fits a lot better than the 350Z filter.

The air filter CAN be removed with out taking off the blower . Remove the inner front wheel well [easy] Losen the clamp on the filter .Push the filter down and to the right , and it will come out easy . Clean and replace in reverse .This is for the G35.

So do you just request the G35 filter in order to be able to get the filter that you can remove without removing the whole SC unit??

I believe that price is for the satin kit, the polished is 300 more. If you see the difference and care for look it is well worth it. I don't regret getting the pollished at all after seeing mine and then seeing the satin on another car. But it is all personal prefference.

You may hear things here and there but nothing major. There was a fuel line issue but that was due to people doing self installs and not having the propper tools. A special tool is needed when installing the fuel line and many people weren't using it, thus cause the fuel line "problem" As stated earlier you have to drill the oil pan but it is no big deal, can be plugged easilly.

I paid 1400 which included install, tuning, dyno times, ect. Also they (Grubbs Infiniti) gave me a loaner car for the week.

Vortech has been around for many many years. It will come with a warrenty and he only maintenace is the air filter and changing the oil regularly (in the car) this changed the oil in the SC.

"Cool Down" is not required. I like the sound of the BOV! Some have tried various filters.
