3.12 dynod
well i dynoed the car with the 3.12 pulley, to me the butt dyno says its much more powerful and responsive (especially since i got new rear tires)
anyway it showed about a 10hp gain thru all the runs, but at about 5500 rpms it dips down a good bit and goes rich, but then comes back up, it didnt max out as high as my 3.33 did because of that dip, i messed with the R4 but with no luck. anyway it feels much faster. it sucks not having a real tuner around here, im not gonna pay 70$ an hour when neither i nor the dyno guy knows how to adjust this thing. oh yeah plus i installed test pipes, dont know if that helped or hurt me.
does anybody know of a R4 tuner in atlanta or anywhere in west GA?

Honestly, the R4 tuning is not rocket science. Here's what worked for me...
When you do the dyno, make sure you do an R4 recording so that you know exactly what cells are being covered during the run. The "trick" is knowing that the SS box always rounds up when determining what cell is active. In other words, if your RPMs and boost are at 5510 at 5.1psi respectively, then the active cell is actually 6000 rpms by 5.5 psi.
Depending on conditions (load, tightness of serpentine belt, the gear you're in, etc) the path of the active cell in the map from run to run might not always be exactly the same so you want to change the surrounding values as well.
Lastly, it's good to remember that the FMU is boost based which means that it adds more fuel as a function of boost. What that means is that you might actually run *more* rich when you change out a pulley because you're boosting more at a given RPM.
In my experience, things like cats and headers do indeed have a marked affect on tuning.

$95/hr here in Sugar Hill, GA (BP). Talked to Ed (dyno guy) yesterday and he said he didn't have any experience with SplitSecond.
Zimbo, can you pm me your shops name and the guy that did your tuning? I think it might be worth a 3 hour drive to get someone with R4 experience.
thanks

chops, I do my own tuning in the passenger seat while the dyno operator "drives" the car. Tell you what, if you make the 5 hour drive from Atlanta to Raleigh to tune your car, I'll help you tune it for FREE. All you'd have to do is work out a time with Eurospeed in Cary and pay for the dyno time.
In the meantime, I've decided I'm going to write "The Enthusiast's R4 Guide to Vortech Tuning".

You migh try giving Z1 Motorsports a call. They are located off I-20 about 20 miles over the GA line somewhere. They specialize in Z cars. Well, thats all they work on. Go to www.z1motorsports.com and look up their #.

I hope to get it installed one of these days. I need to take a couple of days off from work and stop ***** footing around.
zimbo, if you do your own tuning, while driving, it doesnt matter until you upload it to the ecu correct, i mean, you cant drive and make real time adjustments to the maps while driving, you have to stop and upload them first, becuase i did that last night some, but nothing changed till i sent it to the ecu,
