Default Kinetix test pipes with Vortech

I had my Kinetix resonated test pipes installed last night. This is the one mod besides the Vortech that added a very noticable difference in power. The blower kicks in with a lot more authority than before. When I hot 5000rpm the car pulls very hard.
I was also suprised at how quiet they are. I have the HKS Legamax exhaust, I think that it has something to do with the sound. When you get it on it the car has a nice deep sound. Driving at normal speeds however sounds just as it did with the stock cats. I have zero no rasp or vibration...

This weekend I am putting on the DC sports headers, after that the ECU goes to Technosquare then Ill hit the dyno.

Default Opening the Exhaust

Very interested in how the car responds when it's opened to breath better. Several posters have indicated that the S/C needs to have a backpressure for the S/C to build boost. Please post the results. Thanks

For whatever reason, my car leaned out by about 1 point (i.e. from 11.5 to 12.5) when I installed high flow cats--so part of that power might be due to leanness.

In my case, I had to readjust the SS box fuel map. It was too lean to be safe IMO. However, if you're using the stock Vortech maps then you're still going to be pleeeenty rich.

I am sure you 100% correct Steve. I am running the stock maps for now. The headers are the last thing I am adding so I plan on getting tuned after that.

This is an excellent mod!
Have sold these to quite a few F/I owners (derek, 350Now, westpak)

Much better gains then stock cats, or even high flow cats, and the noise level is about the same

Check out my dyno results in this post here

I am very glad to hear you are happy with the resonated pipes.

We ALWAYS advise the resonated pipes when going FI or even possibly going FI because the gains are great and people love the sound as well.

That's true for a turbo setup. You can't stop the blower from building boost unless the belt slips.

Well not so sure..Try blowing into a bag with a slight hole in it.. Then try it with no hole..Can't build up as much boost if the exhaust is free flowing. Question is how much is too much? Need some back pressure.

I think you are a little mislead in your statements. You cannot compare blowing into a bag with air entering an engine. The air entering the engine goes through many stages before it leaves the engine in a different form. It goes from fresh air to exploded gas. The amount of back pressure has no relationship on boost, in a s/c setup, other than the engine may have more torque with a little more back pressure. You will loose power on the top end with more back pressure. When you race you are only in the lower rpms once, and in the high revs 3 or 4 times. The idea is to alleviate most or all back pressure.

Hope this helps clear it up.
