Default Anyone running the Zeitronix nt-2 Wideband?

I am in the market for a cheap wideband with datalogging capabilities and the Zeitronix nt-2 unit seems to be the cheapest at $279 for the complete system (minus the LCD display). The only thing I don't like about the nt-2 unit is the LCD display that they sell to go with it. It is FUGLY!

I e-mailed them to see if they sold a "real" gauge and they said that they are working on a gauge option that should be available sometime soon.

I want to know if anyone is running one of these in their Z and if so, what are your thoughts and comments on it. Is it worth it, or is this a case of "you get what you pay for".

Chris, I think it works great. I've used mine for 2000 miles so far with no problems. I got the display and I think it looks great. It's aluminum trim matches the Z's interior great. This is a pic before I mounted in the top of the nav box.

Well, I'm just not feelin' that LCD display. Plus I have the stock navigation system so I'm not sure where I'd mount it if I got it.

Where did you get the RPM signal from? I have the GReddy eManage unit installed and I had to install their "RPM Signal Adapter" in order for the eManage to get an RPM signal. Does this just hook to a single wire?

Were there any installation problems routing the sensor harness through the firewall?

Chris, mounted mine like CaneZMD inside NAV compartment on a a piece of CF from www.reenmachine.com. Ran the wires through the "firewall" where the wires lead to the ECU inside the battery compartment.

A bung in my driver side R/t Cat for A/F. A tap in my passenger side Cat for EGT. Mounted "boost " sensor just outside the battery compartment, next to the firewall.

I just got the zt-2 from a group buy and asked zeitronix
the same question about the rpm signal. He said that Zs/Gs
are using the ignition timing wire.

good luck and let us know how it goes...

Yep I got it and it works great, I love it. I have a pc in my Z so having to use it with a computer is not a problem. Displaying the data on the e-01 is cool, but it's not 100% accurate because the output signal on the zt-1 is not linear.

I'm using the RPM output from the Greddy RPM adapter.

so waht is a wideband for exactly. Does it trick the ECU into thinking the emissions are in check or something?

No, it is just a sensor that displays your "real" Air/Fuel ratio. The stock sensors are Narrowband so they do not display the full range and are not very accurate. It's important to know your A/F if you are tuning your car in any way or running F/I.

That's cool. So I can just hook the Zeitronix to the Brown wire from the RPM Adapter. That works for me. I am just curious how the other guys are hooking it up if they don't have the RPM adapter?

I sent an e-mail to Zeitronix to see rather than using their Large LCD display with the nt-2, you could instead use their "Digital A/F Ratio Meter" since I am only interested in monitoring A/F and not Lambda, Boost or ETG. This is the look that I'm thinking about. (This is how Dr. Bonz has his new FJO Wideband display mounted and I think that it looks AwEsOmE!!)

I just saw this after posing in another thread about the LM unit. The ZT-2 with the display is probably the most comprehensive and inexpensive WB02 set-up I have seen yet. A round display would be nice, but I could live with the one they offer with the ZT-2. I'm holding out for a few months to see what the "new" display will look like.

You can get an RPM signal on Pin 62 on the ECU for the Zeitronix. Mine works great...

Well, I heard back from Zeitronix and unfortunately the only gauge that currently works with the nt-2 is the one listed with the kit. I think I'll get the kit without the gauge and then wait until they offer a regular round gauge (hopefully it will be soon).

Default I Got it

Well, I just recieved the Zeitronix nt-2 via UPS today! I ended up not buying the gauge they offer since It's it's an ugly POS and I'm hoping that they will be offering a round A/F gauge in the near future.

I'll be installing the Zeitronix tomorrow so hopefully I'll be able to grab some install pics and FINALLY be able to utilize my eManage to tune my A/F!

more to come....

ChrisMCagle,

Great. Looking forward to your review.

I haven't installed mine yet because I'm building a custom
converter before installing it. You maybe interested.

Basically, it's a single chip that converts the wideband,
non-linear O2 output, to a linear 0v to 1v output that can
be used with any narrow band af gauge (.1v per .5 AF from 14.5 to 10 AF).

PLX devices has something similar (take a look at their website).
I bought it for ~ $50 but it won't work because it assumes a linear
wide band output of 0-5v (which zeitronics does not).

So I'm going to program a custom pic to do it (plus it'll also convert the zeitronix boost sensor for 0-1v gauge also). If I have
time, I'm going to make to peak/normal mode also. The chip is
probably less than $10 and the zeitronix already has all the
needed wires (+5v, gnd, af non-linear wide out, boost sensor).

Sounds good to me. All I want it a regular "round" gauge that will display the A/F ratio. Since I'm N/A I don't care about boost or ETG. Let me know what you come up with!

Question TPS sensor issue

Ok, I have a question for those of you who have installed the Zeitronix Zt-2...

I installed mine yesterday. Since I am N/A I am only interested in my A/F ratio so the only wires that I hooked up were the red, black, green (rpm), and gray (tps). I have a GReddy eManage installed so I was able to use the RPM adapter to get the RPM signal which works fine, but I am having trouble with the TPS signal. I have it hooked to the same wire that the eManage is connected to (pin #50 of the ECU), but is there a way to calibrate the TPS signal in the Zt-2? In the eManage you have to set the "fully released position" and "fully depressed position" of the accellerator pedal before you start using the eManage. Is there something like that you have to do with the zt-2? I tried it out yesterday and the RPM and A/F parts work fine, but the TPS is not reading correctly. With the car idling and my foot not even on the gas pedal it reads between"12" and "15" and at Wide Open Throttle it only goes up to around "30" to "35".

Is there something that I am doing wrong? Please let me know.
