Becuase if everyone knows you are sponsored, they might not respect your opinion as much as someone who is more neutral...and doesnt have a financial interest in the product they are recommending. Some people disclose their sponsors in their sig or whatever. Either way, I doubt those that are sponsered what dozens of people PM'ing them with "How do I get sponsored??" For the record, I funded 100% of my mods, but I do negotiate good pricing due to my volume purchases...LOL...damn...with the accident...I had to buy everything TWICE.

Hey ETX....have you stoppped taking your anger management classes?

I've got a buddy who's sponsored and does have a few good things to say about his setup, but if you ask him, he probably would have gone a different route than his SC. Not because it sucks, but rather, he wants something tunable over 400whp.

Just remember, everyone would like a sponsorship.. but not everyone can get one. Think of it more a business deal, it's about what they can do for you, and in return what you can do for them. Use that up when you write your proposal

If sponsorship is what you seek, the following will help you out:

1) List of current sponsors (if any)
2) Previous awards you've won
3) Established circle of friends in the industry
4) Porfolio of your vehicle & progress
5) Events you anticipate attending (included in portfolio)

Unless you're deeply entrenched within the industry already, you will find that persistence and pursuasion are your best assets. What makes you different from every other enthusiast and how will you bring exposure (and indirectly--money) to their company. They're not charities and want some type of ROI.

^^^^Good Stuff^^^^

Try putting together a nice portfolio of your car.....almost like what they do in the modeling industry. Glamour shots, glossy pics, info on your mods....and everything else 350G mentioned above.

It might actually be something cool do to, even if you arent pursueing sponsorships. Almost like a scrapbook about your car....so you can show it to people at events and stuff...just for fun.

Oh lastly, at HIN in Atlanta a couple week ago, there was a company that, for $100, would guarantee you a couple thousand dollars in sponsorships (dont quote me on the numbers). Does anyone know of this company?

yeah but that doesnt mean youll want the sponsorship. Ive turned down sponsorships several times from several different companies. I've prototyped a couple things before though, and i found that to be more satisfactory.

From what companies?? Light effects, fuzzy dice, neon lighting companies, spinners??

Sorry, but someone wants to GIVE me something for free, I'd have no problem with it, as long as it was something I wanted/needed for my car. But yeah, if DayGlow or One-Day-Paint-and Body wants to sponsor my car, I will likely pass.

My friend that has sponsorships for audio, rims, aerodynamics (body kits), and a variety of other little goodies goes to automotive trade shows as a representative for his company (auto related--hint, hint). That's where it all began. The company has a few show cars and at this moment, Mazda is pushing for someone to do some radical modifications to the RX-8 as a way to increase demand from the aftermarket. For the sponsorship, the vehicle will be grossly discounted to the level where it's about 1/3 (slightly higher) the msrp.

How does he get all his info or his sponsorships?

Being damn good with renderings (prototypical or actual images of the vehicle). People in the innercircles sometimes approach him to submit a few drawings and he has vast experience in it from his corporate job (advertising / marketing). I'm sure we've all used some of the products his company brings to market.

nothing, right place at the right time, ive only had my 350z for 2 months actually, before that i had one of the first g35s and one of the first RSX-Ses being one of the first to own a car helps alot, when the GTR comes out pick one up the first month and start modding it right away, im sure that will set you up well. however to get a sweet deal like MR B has with endless you NEED to have some nice stuff going on already. of note, back when the car was still black, big bad black track didnt have much going in sponsors really, but after the car started getting a reputation it was alot easier, but he would be a much better person to talk to about that then myself.
