SilverSellout is correct.

The only thing that defeats us here is that the nature of the cramped engine bay leads to compromised exhaust manifold designs. Neither the Greddy or even the nicer APS kit have an exhaust manifold that takes advantage of exhaust pulses. The collector is much closer to the rear cylinders than the front cylinders.

Regardless, our heads flow well, and many people with turbos use good high-flowing exhaust systems. All of the major turbo kits have decently sized turbos that shouldn't have the high-backpressure issues. A lot of this no-overlap misinformation came from people changing the cams on engines with tiny stock turbos that had excessive amounts of backpressure.

People looking to make high-RPM power (even with turbos) should definitely look at more agressive cams. I suspect the Tomei cams would really show their worth beyond the stock redline. The stock cams run out of breath around 6200-6300 RPM. I would bet the Tomei 268s yield power to redline and beyond.

No doubt. I think we are all on the same page just looking at it differently. To address the cam and headflow comments, I'd wholeheartedly agree that big cams (duration and lift) can help with high rpm power. I have used cams from 250~280 duration with lift from 9.2~12.0mm all on the same type of car and you can definitely notice that overlap and shorter duration help with spool and very high lift and duration will both make power easier on the mid and top end range. I would like to see how the heads look because I'd expect any NA car to have big potential for gains with a good turbo port job.

Just for info, The dyno chart spooled that way because I did not start the run until 3000 RPM and held the settle time there for awhile. I could have started the run @ 2000RPM but, for the top end tune I did not want to generate more heat on the dyno. I set the cruise, decel, and accel on the steady state tune, I tuned @ every 100 RPMS under differing loads for the street.....So the lag is not like it looks on the chart...As for the cams, if you want big power you want duration and overlap, with less lift for a turbo set-up. It generates less valve train abuse and will whoop *** on the top...We always suggest a big overlap for a big power car! Street cars use the middle grind...it promotes better idle...Kudos REALLY needs a Plenum, it will open up alot more for the auto...Either way KUDOS I am glad you like it....Sal says HOLY SH**....he seems to like it...Enjoy...On to the next one...

Thanks for the info, Mark and Kudos.

a couple of quick questions..

1. Kudos, it seems like no expense was spared for parts and tuning. If so, why haven't you purchased a plenum yet?

2. Mark, you said.. "Kudos REALLY needs a Plenum, it will open up alot more for the auto"

Are you referring to an automatic transmission? If so.. why does your description on the SGP website show a carbon-carbon clutch among the installed parts?

3. The SGP Racing Oil cooler you have listed that that page.. where is it installed? I've been looking for a FMIC-compatible cooler location, and haven't been successful. Do you have any pictures of it?

Thanks.

Mark, did you recently switch to a DynoPack dyno? I recalled your last dyno runs were on a dynojet. It would be great to see a full throttle 2000-7000rpm blast on a dynojet...or even the dynopack for that matter.

I havent really found a plenum that i like and the car has to be shipped to Qatar pretty soon, but the plenum is definately my next priority.

My car is a 6 spd, i too am unsure of what "auto" Mark is talking about.

Unfortunately i haven't seen the car after many of these mods, so i'm not really sure where the oil cooler is mounted, however i will try to get some pics.

I am sure when he said "auto" he just means automobile.
