which cams to go with

The engine rebuild should start soon . In wondering what cams to go with . JWT....and get good top end power ? Nismo....and get good power in the lower and mid range ? Or is there other cams I could go with ? My set up is going to be...9 to1 pistons and Vortech SC with either the 3.12 or 2.87 pulley.....Oh....does Nismo have more than one set of cams..with diff. lift and duration ? thanks.....Bill

Booger you know my thoughts concerning cams and a 5AT. The Nismos will help throughout the powerband. If you need more high end power turn up the boost on the SC. The only downside is that the Nismos cost a little more.
For FI, I would go with a cam who's intake and exhaust profiles are near equal to each other. The staggered setups out there for these car are staggered in the reverse of what a forced induction car wants.

Tomei let you buy their cams in pairs, so you can run different cam specs for the intake and exhaust. Ive seen skylines etc which run different intake and exhaust cams so id find out what the benefits/differences are and then decide.
You could probabally look at what people have done with the 300zx and use similar techniques on your TT 350zs. See what works for them in terms of cam setups, not exact specs of course.

With my experience, the Nismo cams and the Vortech get along VERY well. I had the cams for 6 months before I went with the blower and lost a little bit on the low end, but picked it back up in the mid range and top end.
Good choice with the Nismo's Bill. I think the JWT's are the best for FI after doing some research. They have the highest lift and the shortest duration which means there shouldn't be any valve overlap. The Tomei cams have a longer duration and a shorter lift. This may cause problems with FI. The Nismo are in between. I know two people running JWT's with a Vortech and they have had no problems. Let me know how the Nismo's work out. I am guessing better mid-range than the JWT's, but less top-end.
Ive searched the net for a 300zx project car that has had the cams changed hoping to learn something about the needs of a V6 TT in respect to cam theory.

We opted for JWT's turbo cams. JWT's cams have increased duration and lift for improved high-rpm power. JWT also grinds the cams with a minimum of overlap to reduce the chances of turbo backpressure-induced reversion. Reversion is caused when the high backpressure created by the turbine is more than the boost pressure at high-boost levels and rpm. This causes hot exhaust gasses to back flow through the engine during valve overlap (the point in the four-stroke cycle where both the intake and exhaust valve are open). This back flow causes the internal temperature of the engine to rise, promoting detonation which further increases heat. This can create a vicious circle where the engine has a thermal runaway, overheating to destruction. Excess overlap can also cause charge dilution at idle, resulting in the lopey eight-stroking misfire race-car type of rough idle.

OK so the needs of a FI car are different to that of a NA tune car. We've learnt for FI you want more lift and duration but very little overlap at the right moment to avoid exhaust going into your intake manifold. Normally overlap helps get rid of the burnt exhaust gases and suck fresh air, fuel through into the cylinders (scavenging effect) , but because your gas/exhaust is under pressure you dont need it as much.
So what cams out at the moment meet this criteria? Or what combination of cams would help achieve this?

I dropped in the JWT cams in with the vortech on my 5AT and i netted 370whp, a lot more than what others are getting without cams. Loads of power up top, but a noticeable loss down low. After 5k the car just explodes.
