R4 Software Help needed...
I just ordered Split Second's R4 software today. I want to lean things up a little more as I am currently running mid to low 10's A/F over 4 psi boost. In some spots over 7 psi I've seen 9.9 A/F.
I've read a bunch of threads regarding the R4 tuning so I feel I have a good base of knowledge to start with, but I did have a couple questions.
1. Once you establish connection with the SS box, can you immediatley save the current settings as a baseline?
2. Can anyone out there experienced with R4 tuning email me their Fuel and timing maps? I am looking to for low to mid 11:1 A/f after 4 psi.
If anyone out there can please help I would really appreciate it.
Thanks,
Steve

You really need to find someone that has experience with the R4 and start with your own base map. I tried a couple of maps that were emailed to me and the a/f went way lean on me.
My tuner has a ton of experience and it took him about 2.5 hours to get me in the 11's across the board.
I got files out the ying yang if you want them, but I don't recommend it.

I would like to learn the R4 and become comfortable with it before I do any actual uploading to my car. My email is sbicklin@aerotek.com if you could email me.
Thanks for your help and advice.

Perhaps I should refrain from posting about timing issue..

Does anyone know if I can download my base map I currently have on the car with out affecting the settings? I want to look at it, make sense of it, and then slowly try to lean things up a little.
I really appreciate everyone's cautious advice, but I've been tuning cars for a long time and have already made every dumb mistake in the book. I don't plan to do that with my Z.
I need everyone's help so I can get familiar with how R4 works and the processes before I make any changes to my current maps.
Thanks Everyone!

So my plan is to slowly lower the numbers from my base fuel map, save each new map as a different name and hopefully things will lean out to the mid 11's. Correct???
r4 is very easy. Just get a datalogging AF gauge and you can tune by doing 2nd gear pulls on any street by your house. That's what I did.
I also used booger's charts as a guide. Although, when I looked at booger's timing map I thought. "That's not much timing retard" so I left it alone. (Not that I'm a tuning expert or anything) I'm glad that I left it alone now.
Booger, can't wait to see how your engine build ends up.
