Probably because those brakes have been a royal PITA for the dealers...tons of G35 drivers have had issues with their brembos. Or perhaps just to save money? The decision doesn't really make sense given the increase in HP, sport suspension, etc.

If you plan to upgrade to the Brembo Brakes that come OEM on the Infiniti it will cost more then upgrading to a Stop Tech 14" kit on all four corners...

But it can be done...

What widespread issues have occured with Brembos? I know there have been an assload of issues with the standard brakes, but I haven't heard of that many with the Brembos. Just curious.

I'm curious too! What widespread issues? My Brembo's on my '04 are problem free.

The only thing I can think of with the brembos are they grab the front a ton more than I am used to....This is the first car that I have driven that doesn't have a propotioning valve that I can take some of the bite out of the front with...

I've seen many members who have upgraded to BBKs selling the complete Brembo package (front and rear) for $2K. In fact there is a new set for sale here now:

BTW: The OEM Brembos are an excellent brake. Great fade resistance, performance and feel.

I have so far been pleased with the brembo setup. The only thing I want to do is get some stainless brake lines and hawk hps pads. They work fine for what I do with them..... like drive to work.

I suspect Infiniti did away with the Brembos on '05s for cost reduction.

Also, I think with all the complaints on squeeking and dusting from consumers that Infiniti may have thought it was too much trouble to deal with.

I have an '04, the Brembos will squeek every now and then. On top of that, it dusts quite a bit. Do I complain? No, with these brakes it's a trade off for performance.

Sorry guys, I wasn't clear. When the G35 6MTs came out, there were a lot of consumer complaints about the brembos (as told to me by my local dealer) #1 - very short pad/rotor life (Infiniti paid to replace a lot of these units), #2 Squeaking and dust.

I apologize, I should have made it clear that it wasn't really a mechnanical defect, but rather just the design of the product.

Infiniti paid a lot more to replace the standard brakes with the extended warranty it gave them, many, many owners got new brake pads and resurfaced rotors. There was no such program for us Brembo owners.

My Brembos have been great - No fade, great feel and performance. The Brembos pushed me over the edge to get my "G". If my car did not come with the Brembos, I would not have bought the it. The standard brakes had no feel and were grabby. Infiniti's decision to drop the Brembos was a big mistake, IMO.

A world class automobile deserves world class brakes.
