Question Speedometer retrofit for G35C 6spd

Hi,

I'm new to this forum. I must say this forum is much more useful than G35.ca(sorry :|)

My question is, has anyone attempted to retrofit their 2004 and older G35C 6spd speedometer cluster with the 2005 cluster? IMO pre-2005 G35's have a really cheap looking speedo-cluster that doesn't really match the G. The 2005's cluster looks very classy and much improved in the esthetics department.

I've never tried a project like this, but I'd sure like to give it a shot. Any comments and suggestions welcome.

Thanks,
Groove

Okay, I just had to revive this thread again. hehe

Anyone with new ideas on this speedometer retro-fit?

The more I look at my speedometer(04 G35C), the more it disgusts me

What about ordering the Nismo Gauge Cluster?

You'd just have to get used to seeing kph.

Default Won't work

CAN Bus system wont allow it... You pull the gauges, the car will not work...

Crap....

So there's no way in getting around it huh? I just think the speedometer on my 04 looks so cheap; like it doesnt belong on a G35 or any Infiniti.

perhaps you should sell your car then. i can't say i have ever thought that it was a big deal. i like the 05 housing better, but i can honestly say that i like the 04 gauges better. to each his own.

I really like the Nismo pod but I just can't justify the cost. Don't they go for like $600?

I'm about to pick up an '03 this week. After driving a few, even the '05, my conclusion is that the aesthetics of the gauge cluster is a huge step down from my '02 Max

Accord freak is right. This is pretty much impossible. Come on guys, find the beauty in the simplicity of our pre o5 gauges!!!

Damn...I'm gonna have to let this one go then. The word 'impossible' pretty much did it for me
