Default limited slip diff

Has anyone tried to replace the standard differential in an auto sedan with one of the limited slip units from a 6 speed???

i believe you need the 3.5 ring and pinion and it should work.

That is correct and it's not all.

In order to install a M/T viscous core into a A/T open diff not only to you have to purchase the ring and pinion gearset for a M/T diff which will run $500, but you also must purchase new $150 each LSD stub axles as your open diff stub axles cannot be used. Add in the $400 cost for the labor to have it done, and your looking at a very high price. Buying a used sealed pumkin with everything already installed makes the most sense, since you can now locate them pretty readily and for around $500.

I did a oem VLSD swap using a viscous core that had showroom floor miles on it. Even though I only paid $100 to buy the core, the cost of the LSD axles and the cost of labor ment I ended up spending $900 when I was done, given the lackluster performance of the oem VLSD, I might as well had stuffed $900 in a shoe box and buried it in my backyard. And I don't even track my car.

Sorry to hear it didn't work out as well as expected. Good info though.
Better to just get a 3.5 FD for my AT.
