New Car Buyin Tips
I have read some stuff on Edmunds or KBB. I like carsdirect.com. Anyother suggestions?
I am helping to get mom into a new G35x Sedan. Those new Lexus IS250 looks nice, but too much money for a 4 banger.
Thanks for any info.

I found some good info here when I bought my brand new Maxima in 2002. Not sure if it's been updated/revised since then. Some of the stuff sounds suspiciously commercial, but most of it seems pretty informative.

I highly reccomend going to the fleet manager at any dealership you go to. Don't waste your time with the sales guys. I called 11 dealerships in about an hour or so and didn't waste time haggling with sales guys. I asked for the fleet manager, asked if they could give me the price I wanted and it was either yes or no, and I moved on, continuing until I got as low as I expected.
FYI, the IS250 is a V6. Regarding the G35x, I'd contact a couple of the high-volume Infiniti dealerships like Grubbs Infiniti in TX and Riverside Infiniti and get quotes on the exact model you want. They both do some decent pricing and, from the majority of feedback I've heard, their customer service is pretty good. Check them out here: http://www.grubbsinfiniti.com/ and http://www.riversideinfiniti.com/
I'd also get a price quote from one the online services like MSN. They send your make/model/options requirements to a dealer local to you and he dealership gives you a no-haggle price. The Grubbs and Riverside quotes should be lower, but there is the definite possibility of catching a local deal.
Lastly, after you get some baseline quotes that you feel are pretty good, use the best quote to attempt to leverage a deal at a local dealership.

I beleive from Lexus own website the IS250(2.5 litre 4 cyl) and IS350 (3.5 6 cyl).
I am not sure if I want to persue an Infiniti dealer way down in TX. I prefer in RI or Mass, incase certain service needs to be done. It's better if I had bought it locally. I will use the idea to get different quotes and try to get the best price locally though.
Thanks for the feedback.

Sorry, the IS250 is a 2.5L V6. I couldn't find the specs on the US Lexus site, but this article points this fact out:

Additionally, it doesn't matter where you purchase your can when it comes to service. I bought my G in Mission Viejo and both of the Vegas dealerships treat my car with care.

My bad, you're right. I was reading off some forum somewhere.
Is it me, or do Lexus people have some sort of complex issue? I would rather go buy that TSX with a better forum community than that IS250. I would rather join a forum where people are not too conceited. Sounds like a bunch of pickle smoochers on the IS forum.
If I had it my way, still weighing in the FWD TSX and the G35 currently. Once the IS250 comes in I am gonna have my mom go sit and drive each one, ask her what she likes and then I will do what's in her best interest. I really like that M35x, but that gets pricey.
Wish me luck, I will post in the future what mom decides on.
