G35 or 350Z?
Was in the same situation as you something like 2 years ago.
Heres my take:
"Z"
compromises comfort for agility. It rides rougher and tighter and is all business. Sure it has a passenger seat, but even the Z-chasis gives two flying shiets for the passenger. It's connected to the driver like a sports bike.
It seems like more of a blank canvas if you want to Autocross and Track. Definitely not a purebred sports car, but can evolve into one with ease.
"G35c"
Makes a few compromises on agility to introduce comfort. If you look underneath a G35 chasis and the Z chasis you'll see that the Z has cross-members, braces and all sorts of chasis stiffening aluminum and steel that is nonexistant in the G.
This makes the G alot more of a softer and plusher ride but less rigid than the Z.
If you don't care about neither of the above and just want a "Hot ride" they both fit the bill. Both are great.
Now,
This is just my opinion but I find the luxury market to be a little more fickle. To some people, luxury cars are more based on status and prestige, and that can all change in a moments notice when there is a successor or newer model. I couldn't afford to keep up with that.
A great sports car...is a great sportscar. I just see the Z as being sort of timeless.

I think everyone has their own reason for getting either the Z or the G. Both are great cars. I went with the G because it's my daily driver and I have a wife and son. If I were single, I would have gotten the Z. Lighter, faster, and you can get Brembos with it too.

I almost got the Z, but in the end I decided I needed a back seat and a usable trunk for my only car. It's a daily driver and I race it, and I'm very happy w/my decision. I've been able to hang with the Z's for the most part in AutoX, adjusting for skill level of course...

I also did 5 track days and kept up with other N/A Z's. One Z on track at Beaver Run had a turbo and racing slicks who owned me and another G at Putnam Park had the Vortech S/C on race slicks who also owned me as well as gave me a ride and a lesson. But the G has become known as quadruple threat in LA (Louisville Area) as a Daily Driven, Auto X, Track, and Tire car. (All 4 Hoosiers on stock rims fit in the car with the tools and neccessities for the track). IMO the complete package. (I think the same can be said for other cars (I think M3) but not for my price range under 30k usd)
Don't gorget the G's warranty is a 4yr/60k bumper to bumper (including roadside) and a 6yr/70k powertrain warranty, the Z is a 3yr/36k bumper to bumper (no roadside) and a 5yr/60k powertrain warranty. But I love them both, gotta G though for the kiddies!!

question one should be what's your priority? speed, looks, practicality, price, kids?
you'll likely be in a catagory much different from everyone else..........for me, i solved all the above by getting an 04 g35 sedan 6mt, threw on headers,1/2" plenum spacer, iso thermal gasket, z tube w/kn filter, crank pulley, z mid-pipe, y-pipe, Z track wheesl, 05 Z suspension and NOS 50hp dryshot(convert to wet soon)........so, there you have it, my 4door g/Z parts....my Z35...haha...........but really, have kids, needed door, end of story.....

G: Stock for stock slower
Z: faster stock for stock
G: 4 seats
Z: 2 seats
G: Smoother ride: feels more like a luxury car
Z: Stiffer ride: feel more like a sports car
G: Costs more
Z: Costs less
If you have to have two back seats and want a smoother ride that costs more and is slower buy the G.
If you want a faster car, dont care about 4 seats, and want a sports car feel instead of a luxury car feel that costs less then buy the Z.
I bought the Z. In my opinion the Z also looks better JMO
