I couldn't find a used G for less than 30k... How is that more for the money? I don't have side impact airbags or brembos, admittedly, but they aren't worth 5-6k for me... AND my Z still performs better and looks more agressive/exotic?

I autocross. And from my experience with other 350z club members, the Z is better for the roadcourse not a autox setup. The G35 is better for both. The Z is way too loose. It wants to fish tail everywhere. The G actually in tests handles better than the Z. 1/4 runs, its a draw really with a hair towads a 350z. But my G35 with just one mod kills the 350z now.
am i missing something here? as a g owner, and z admirer, i must have missed the "exotic" looks of the z. both are great cars, inside and out. i was going to get a z as "plan b" if my g purchase fell through the cracks, and after getting insurance quotes for both, from the same company, at the same time, and the $145 (g) to $300 (z) a month was really the deciding factor (amazing what a backseat will do for you). as i see it, the g fills the void left by the late 300zx 2+2, although not a z car, but derived from one, with minimal internal changes. theres no need to hate. both cars are equal (at least in my eyes). also, after lots of reading, the g is way more car for the money, and resale value is great. just my $0.02....
WOW!! Sounds like my fellow G owners are the haters here! I love my G and I love the Z. I'm sure everybody here is aware of all the differences between the two. To answer the original question -
Get a G if -
You have kids
Want the pimp factor that comes along with owning an Infiniti
Get a Z if -
You don't have kids
Want more money for FI
Spend your weekends at the track
I bought the G because I needed the backseats (kids). But my G doesn't have leather or a sunroof, and I don't really care. Leather gets to cold in the winter anyways! Point is that the G is a more practical Z!! period!

[QUOTE=down_shift]The trunk space is just about the same.[QUOTE]
You are kidding, right?
We own both cars and there is almost no space at all in the trunk of the Z. I have been amazed at some of the seemingly ordinary things we have tried to put in the back of the Z only to find that they are too tall etc.
I do agree, though, that when you put the seat down in the G you can shove a ton of crap in 'er.

I am honestly surprised at home many G owners are here bashing the Z. This www.my350z.com isn't it?
I own a Z, obviously, love every second of it. I looked at both and wanted more of the sports car. I have driven both and do thoroughly enjoy both cars, but to me, the G doesn't have nearly the raw sports car feel that the Z does. That being said, i think it certainly depends on the personal preference.
Do I want a G...when I have kids. Before then, I will take my Z any day of the week.
I love this quote. Coming from someone with a total of 1 post. Hey $hit for brains, the cars are different enough to serve multiple purposes. I could have bought a G, but liked the Z better. So it seems to me, that you are the one that needs to step back and get over yourself. The G ain't a Ferrari dumba$$.

Z driver = I couldn't afford 10 more G's to get the real deal so I bought something "similar."
Infiniti - "own one and you'll understand"
b*tches... you have the same motor, 2 seats only, and a crappy interior. Get over yourselves.

The difference between a Z and G owner? A G owner would never consider trading his car in for a Z. On the other hand, 60% of you Z owners given the chance would take a G over your car anyday of the week. I think it was also the G that won Car of the Year in 03'? Was the Z included? NO
Ah and the G stereotype is finally cemented....
j/k
C'mon guys whats up with the hate all of sudden? It was pretty constructive until the last couple of pages. This is some twisted sibling rivalry. Especially since there are all these G owners coming out of the woodwork to diss on the Z???
If you're so happy with your cars, do you really need to come over here and slap down how superior you think your car is?
And WickedGee35,
"A G owner would never consider trading his car in for a Z." I know plenty of converts to Z's so this is not true.
But you're right, plenty of Z'ers go to G after they have kids or need to fit in a baby seat...I've seen that.
60% willing to trade?? Hah sure.... maybe the average consumer: I'll give you that one. But the last 40% of the enthusiasts who could afford either one, you couldn't pry the Z from our dead bodies.
The Prius won "Car of the year"...you really want to preach practicality to a bunch of sports car enthusiasts? What platform does Nissan use to represent themselves in the Super GT? What platform won the Taikyu Endurance series? What platform won Top Gear sports car of the year? You don't see us shoving that down the throat of G-owners.
No disrespect intended, you guys just need to relax and enjoy your rides. This reminds me of the SC300 owners dissing the n/a Supra guys back in the day. Looking back now, there is no point to it.

The comparison is a stock G35 vs a stock 350Z. What we do to our cars after that is up to each individual owner.
The G35 has bluetooth too, and G35's retain their value better on the market than 350Z's... which is why they're harder to find for under $30K used.

As everybody says, If i had a wife and kids I wouldnt get a Z, but i wouldnt get a G neither...not a coupe, thats for sure...a sedan maybe..wait, not even a sedan, I'd rather get a new Maxima, looks way better then a G sedan...I mean...is it just me, or a stock G looks very simple? It just doesn't look like something that costs 35+k.
I am a G owner and with my previous post I was just trying to spark some funny remarks.
The truth is: I think that the 350z is one hell of a sexy car expecially with some nice rims on it. I have driven the hell out of both cars and they are very simular but very different too. You feel the road more in the Z but you feel the engine more in the G. Deep down I truely think G owners and Z owners love to get together and compare cars and talk mods. One of my best friends owns a Z and all that we can talk about are our cars!
Together (G's and Z's) rule the roads!

Ladies dont look at the badge, they look at how the car looks...and a Z looks more exclusive then your everyday G-rocery-G-etter-G.
a G35 handles better?? AHAHAHAHAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!! mmkay....no comment...
The ride IS smoother...but...not LUXURY smoother..it is still bumpy. As I said...want a smooth ride and 4 seats? -> GET A SEDAN!
audio system is better? well...it is the first thing i replace everytime i buy a new car...so I dont even care.
A G is a very nice car...I like it very much. The reason im a little aggressive with my replies, is coz your comments are freaking bogus.

I guess that you don't read Car and Driver, Road and Track, .... Its common knowledge that the G handles better.
Other than that, enjoy your 350z...
