Default 2007 G35 question

Hey guys my father jsut got a 2007 G35. I did a search but could not find an answer.

On the freeway, is it normal for it to cruise at 70mph @3k RPMs? He has the basic automatic transmission.

Thanks in advanced!

Not sure if I asked a stupid question from that comment. But, he is used to his TL which cruises at 2k rpm @ 70mph. Legit question if you ask me.

yeah, a lot of them are. the cruising rpm is fine at 3k. That's completely perfect for a MT car, so I would think it's fine. I've actually never stared at what my idle while at 70 mph is. I'm usually just gunning it so my revs are all over the place.

The G35 guys are @ G35driver.com

Not sure why you're asking such a question here. G35driver.com has a forum specifically for the 07 G35 Sedan, which would have answered your question within minutes.

Check it out.

OK I have an 04 auto coupe and just checked out for you yesterday... at 82 mph I am at 3000 rpms.... at 70 mph I am at 2400 - 2500 rpms... 3K at 70 sounds a bit high to me. what a drain on gas... Go test drive some other 07's and see what they are doing...

I thought my rpms were high at 82 w 3K which is my cruising speed.

Hope this helped a tad / good luck.

Yes, it's quite normal. There were a few posts on the same subject on other forums. This engine likes to rev in the higher range and also tends to be quite thirsty. It's a very legitimate question.
