Default G35 Clutch burned out before 9K miles

My friends G35 Coupe just burned out its clutch in less than 9K miles. He doesnt drive the car hard and hasnt had any bad experiences before 2 days ago with clutch burning. Its never even smelled before.

It started slipping two days ago and this morning the car wouldnt move.

Called the dealership and they said that it was his fault. (Got to love the dealership ) And he ordered a JWT clutch to replace it.

Anyone else have premature clutch wear experiences with a G35. I have a Z that i just replaced the clutch in but it turned out to be nothing.

Thanks for the input.

Does he know how to drive an MT properly? There have been cases though of defective flywheel/clutches , so it could be either way.

i know a guy at the nissan dealership who burned out a clutch with a brand new Z with less than 26 miles on it. It could happen. The z's clutch is not forgiving..

Well there is a 12k 1 year grace period on new cars...does your friend know how to drive and is your friend really you??

My son moved into a new house with a 45 degree approach incline.
Started riding the clutch to control the climb, burned the clutch up in no time...
My DD has 97000 miles, no clutch issues.
I will be keeping a spare clutch home now until I teach him how to climb his driveway..

man...some people needs to learn how to drive stick...or at least know the basics!! (clutch in)/(gas off) vs (clutch off/gas in).

Z is my first MT but I have zero issues...clutch still feels as strong as day 1.

i learned on my G35 coupe 6mt and i have had the car for a little over 2 years now and put 20,000 miles on it. Not daily driven more of a weekend toy, but when i take it out, i beat it up, shift hard, drifting down remote back streets, etc. and i have yet to have an issue with the clutch. Because this was my first manual, i wasnt sure whether i was tearing it up, but after that long and driving it the way i do, it's fine.

We think its a defect in the amount of clutch fluid added when the car was orginaly manufactured. He also posted on G35 Frenzy and everyone seemed to have the same problem and thanks again to everyone with dumbass answers about "can he drive a MT" cause that really helps.

When he takes the car in for a new clutch, he should have them do an AT swap at the same time...lol...

being low on fluid would not make any difference as long as its not low enough to allow air to enter master cylinder, and if it did then pedal would go to the floor. your friend must be one of those people that feathers the clutch like an old lady.

did you know that you can shift from 1st gear to 2nd,3rd, and so on w/o using the clutch??? Once you get know how to time your rpm w/ your mph you can shift w/o the clutch but you must give it gas. You always have to use the clutch on 1st gear though, but once you get the car moving at 20mph rev it up to 2200 rpm then shift. I wouldn't recommend this until you get a good feel of driving manual.

Tell your friend to buy an automatic. He learned very badly how to drive stick. He probably feathers the clutch constantly, maybe even drives with his foot on the pedal. Tell him to buy a minivan.

do you have a dogbox tranny?

you can shift out of any gear taking your foot off the throttle, BUT YOU STILL NEED THE CLUTCH TO PUT IT IN GEAR.
