Default G35 Will Not Rev Above 1k RPM. Help...

Hi guys,

My boss asked if I could present this question to the G gurus. He has an 06 G35. This morning on his way to work he was forced to apply the brakes extremely hard, in order to avoid rear ending another vehicle in traffic. There was no collision. He told me that after the episode, his vehicle "will not go above 1k RPM". It is an automatic. He made it into work since this happened at the exit ramp where we work, but is worrying about getting home now.

Is there a rest feature similar to the Z or any other trick he could do to remedy his situation?

Thanks in advance guys,

Val

The vehicle is most likely in limp mode...

That's what I figured had happened. I'm wondering if the reset is the same as the Z?

VO(just realized he doesn't even know how to reset the Z)

Get a scanning tool. Directions should be with the software for the scanning tool...My Z went in limp mode a couple of months back. I got lucky and there was this guy at the auto shop that just so happened to have a scanning tool(forgot what it was called) He plugged it up under the dash and cleared out the code. Car ran fine after that.

Sounds like limp mode to me too. You could try just disconnecting the battery for a few minutes and see if it clears it out.

Thanks for the replies guys. My boss ended up having it towed to the dealership. They found the brake switch had been unplugged. This is what was causing the problem. Apparently he stepped on the brake so hard it unplugged the switch. He told me this morning, " I was wondering why the brake lights were on when I saw the tow truck driver drivng away with my car."

Sounds like well implemented safety precautions on Nissan's part IMO.

No brakes? Well, then you cant go over 1,000 RPM's homie.
