Hello, a girl from work just got a G35. She liked my ZR but needed to get something with a backseat. Well she said its making a funny noise and asked me to check it out.
When the clutch is pressed down and you rev the car there are not any noises. When the clutch is not pressed and you are accelerating or revving while sitting there is a grinding type noise, plus a constant noise like a bad rod knock. Below 2000RPM you don't really hear the noise though.
Does it take much to push the clutch down? It is a lot stiffer than the Z's clutch. Plus the G's clutch was really close to the floor hardly traveled at all to engage.
I wonder if there is an aftermarket clutch/flywheel. I wonder if the noise is the flywheel?
What do you guys think?

Reason being is you obviously want to help her so you can get in her pants......

I never knew about the site. I won't worry about it I guess. I am a ZR driver. Just thought I would holler at the G35 drivers on here.
They are just getting the car checked out tomorrow so if anyone is interested I can post what exactly was wrong with it.

Thanks, can you guys comment though about why the clutch is so much stiffer? Plus it feels so close to the floor? Is that normal or is the clutch like the Z?
G35 clutches usually engage (friction point) near the top (end) of the pedal travel. The clutch is also not stiff. Something's wrong or something has been changed. I's say the latter.

the g and z have the same clutch so it should feel the same
low engagement is not stock either
i think something's been changed
how high is the clutch pedal in relation to the brake...just checking if the clutch height adjustment was made

Okay I will say that something has been changed it is super low compared to my Z's clutch. I guess tomorrow they should find out what all is going on with it. Hopefully its not too expensive.
Definitely sounds like someone has changed/altered the clutch. OEM clutches
don't engage that close to the floor. Don't forget the throw out bearing, they
seem to make more noise with mileage. Hope you find the issue and it isn't
too expensive....

Well she told me its an 04 with 54K miles. The bad thing is that it had a rebuilt title. Who knows what all is going on with it. It looks to be in great condition but the noise says other wise. Her appt. is at 3 today, I will let you guys know what is going on with it.

Anyone that was following this. I talked to her husband today. He said the Nissan dealership told him it needed a new flywheel and transmission. 6K, then he took it to some no name, that said it just needed more oil.
It only had 1 quart of oil in it!! So would that make it sound like crap and make the clutch feel all stiff??
