Default 04 G35 3rd brake light on/off help

My G35 coupe has a weird occurrence.

If you open the trunk, the trunk light doesn't turn on. If you hit the key fob to lock or unlock the doors, the light turns on.

Similarly, the 3rd brake light often does not work. If you get the trunk light to work or tap on the underside of the trunk, you can get the light to either work, or be halflit.....meaning, not red, but pink.

This is the factory 3rd brake light in question.

I can't really get anywhere yet with this. I understand that it is probably a grounding issue.

The oddity is that what the heck does hitting the key fob do to fix the dome light?

thanks

There is one thread for G35's and you want me to go there?

Isn't this more of generic electrical issue?

thanks

would you mind telling me where that is?

never mind,

I found it.

If my350z.com is that strict, I'll check into just joining G35driver.com

I didn't mean to make a big wave in this pool.

thanks guys and sorry that you are chubby

I just can't seem to get relaxed. My light doesn't work.

Being a Nissan lover since the late 80's, I didn't know that posting about my U.S. model Skyline Z33 would be that big of a deal in a 350z forum, you know since the Infiniti model is really just a version of Nissan and only exists in a few countries.....where in other places they are just Nissans.

I will stay on this forum because I plan to buy a 350z, but I'll just join your/our sister forum of G35driver and post this there.

p.s. the wiring is the same for both vehicles just the placement of the light is different

thanks guys, love the forum, try eating leaner meat

actually, not until I was given the brush off, did I get snippy

the people that first posted did not offer any help, but yet took the time to actually type stuff

telling someone to go to a thread but not give the link is of no help

I don't have a spoiler, but I'm guessing that my car did.

The wires have been modified. They have been retaped. I'm guessing that someone put a trunk with a spoiler on the car. Possibly when it was sold, they put another trunk on it.

in 2 years I have yet to fix it. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I only drive the car about 2000 miles a year so it's not a big deal.
When you want to work on it........it works........so it's hard to find the issue.
