G35 Seized Engine
My engine with 102k miles on it crapped out 2 hours away from where I live.
Currently, it has been a full week and they finally were able to check the car out and told me the engine seized. They said they could get the engine for 1,700 and replace it for 1,100 in labor + $100 for fluid changes (Tranny/oil).
Do you guys think that is the best deal I could get on a 2006 G35 MT??

hell man ... for $1700 I would rebuild it. Z1 sells a rebuild kit with upgrade components which will get you into the 600hp range. You may need another block if yours is messed up and/or your crank is toast.

$2k gets you all the components for a turbo'd engine...
is there a guarentee with the donor engine?
If you have engine / engine rebuild experience you should rebuild it yourself
1. remove engine
2. disassemble engine
3. inspect engine ( you may have to pay a machinist to help you measure tolerances and inspect components)
4. pay to have components machined / honed / milled (crank, cylinder walls, heads, etc)
5. reinstall using new components (new bearings, pistons, rods, headgaskets, etc)
6. reinstall engine
7. start up

Excellent point on the warranty, Bealljk.
Does the shop offer a warrant on the engine and service performed or is it "as is"?
If you have the tools and mechanical expertise to take on such a task then a rebuild would be a good option. That is, provided you planned to throw extra power at it down the road. If it is just need the car up and running quickly, or do not feel comfortable tearing the engine apart, then having the shop install that engine for you is not a bad decision.
Worst case scenario, get the new engine and see if you can buy the old one back. Drive the new one around and build a heck of a monster out of the old one.

Don't want to get ahead of myself here, work a minimum wage job at the maximum allowed time until I turn 18 in two months. Realistically I can't even consider FI for the next year or so.
How much would the kit be putting out all motor?

Seeing as how you mention you have no engine building experience or a steady stream of disposable income, I believe just buying the engine and having it installed would be your best bet at this time. All it takes is one small mistake to turn the engine into a giant paperweight.
Much respect for the bold statement above, btw. It's a breath of fresh air to see the level of maturity to make that statement, especially at your age.

I would probably cut a check to have that 40k mile engine dropped in. what's the warranty on the used engine?
Get through your schooling/education and land that big job and then you can worry about FI.
I actually already have an IT Job for a pretty moderately sized company. I just cannot legally work more than 4 hours Mon-Thur even tho I do homeschool haha.
my last company decided to outsource all of IT, i jumped ship my project manager friend their told me she was leading the project for it. the company i came to is small, paid alot better, and the owner hates H1B employees.
We actually do have some people that are outsourced and the company hates dealing with that.
Also I know the company owners daughter. So that helps.
