No the navigation DVD can't play DVD movies even if you buy an adapter. With the adapter, you have to buy/use another dvd player to play the movie on the screen.

Alot of people have tried, but are not successful due to the fact that the factory DVD player doesn't have the buttons for play/reverse/forward/menu nor a remote, and there's no way that you can add a adapter that would add those buttons or remote to the factory player. If you could have your stero shop show you, that would be great but I think your stero place is pulling your leg. Plus, if it could be done, wouldn't you think alot of G35 owners would have done it already? And, if you go to most G35 forums, they would tell you the same thing what I've told you.

I don't know where you get your facts from?
Skylines in Japan uses the same DVD navigation system/player that is used here in US G35s, they both can't play regular DVDs. I was in Japan for the Tokyo Auto Salon this past January, when I was there I checked with Nissan Japan regarding this issue. In Japan, there is an upgrade option for a different DVD navigation system/player that can play regular DVDs which is not an available option here in the US. Another fact is that front seat DVD players are illegal here in the US for a good reason unless its only enabled to work when the cars not moving which in Japan is not illegal.

I don't want to flame you bro, but get your facts straight before advising another G35 owner. First you said your car stero place had the navigation DVD player playing regular DVDs but no evidence. Second, you said the Skyline in Japan plays regular DVDs, again no supporting evidence. There's just alot of false information out there and I hate see false information circulating around.
