New Dyno NUmbers After Header Install
#42
Here's a pic to help clear up the confusion with the different scales used on those dyno plots. Still looks like some pretty nice gains across the board with the addition of the Topspeed headers.

Thanks Deviant1 for the analysis. I guess I am better than I was before the header install. Your lines make it a lot easier to analyze my dynoes.
I sent an email to Technosquare to see what they thought about my problem I am experiencing. Here is what Brian had to say:
Hi there Zach. As biased as it may sound, this is probably the ECU reacting and you will need a reflash. =) The 2004 and 2005 ECUs are a bit more advanced than the 2003 as the computer reacts a lot faster to changes done to the car. They work quicker to emit less emissions so they pull timing a lot more drastically and they richen up the car if it's too lean. So as many mods as you put on the car, they'll all be negated at the end and you most
likely will lose power. With our reflash, we take care of the ECU correcting the car to get to 10.5 AFR and raise it to 12.5. We also do the rev limiter, the speed governor, 100% WOT, altered fuel and timing maps. The price is $595. One thing is that we can't do all ECUs just yet. We can only do the R4 and R5 versions that will be written on the ECU if you look at it. Please refer to this page for more information. http://www.technosquareinc.com/2004.htm

If you commit to getting it right, so will they. I overnighted my ECU out to them and they overnighted it back, if timed properly you could send your ECU out twice a week until it is where you want it.

i'm all about not paying $600!!! since you are already in contact with ts, would you be willing to ask about a gb, or would you rather i do it; i'll run it if ts makes us a good break. i'm definitely getting a reflash, but i have to get my headers coated and installed first.

How do we know if we have an R4 or R5 version? I also dont see why you would need to send the ECU in multiple times. I think i am probably going to wait on headers until the spring when i will hopefully be doing a vortech and I will just get it tuned then with the software that comes with the vortech instead of getting a reflash. Zach might need the reflash since his numbers do seem to be pretty low.

I'm a bit confused. The dyno shows the AFR dropping from around 14 to 13 across the pull. This from what I understand is lean, i.e. dangerous and not good for power. But the ECU is doing good by trying to richen as rpms climb. With the reflash, is Brian from Technosquare saying that the AFR should actually do the reverse and rise across the pull from 10.5 to 12.5 at Redline?
I've also read some forum member stating his late model 04 is maintaining an AFR of 12.5 after similar extensive breathing mods without tuning. What gives? What is the X factor we are missing here?
Zach, do you know which ECU you have yet, R4 or R5?
