Grab the K&N recharger kit at your local auto parts store. Follow those instructions, which are pretty much what you listed. Took about 30 minutes to clean mine.

I noticed that the interval time for cleaning the charger is every 50,000mi or if driven in a dusty area may be sooner. What would yal recommend? I've had mine for about 8kmi but havent cleaned it yet? I was thinking about doing it. I guess it can't hurt to keep it well maintained.

i thought it was every 5,000 miles, i could be wrong, but 50k is a long time to not claen an air filter. it also does depend on where you drive, but i am pretty sure you should clean that sucka soon, not going to kill anything, just making it harder to breathe. a search should give you the definite answer or try going to where you bought the filter and see what they recomend.

Make sure you don't over-oil the element otherwise you may foul up the MAF sensor...

I cleaned mine at 7k miles...and I think I'm going to start doing it every 5k. I just ran it under the sink (reverse fashion, so the water is going OUT, opposite of the direction the air goes).

I bought the JWT filter cleaner so my cleaner stays blue. If you buy the K&N it'll turn red. Not really a big deal.

Exactly, give it time to air dry as well after you rinse it with warm/how water.

Also, the K&N will change from blue to red. If you want the blue color, you have to buy the JWT oiling kit.

As far as how mnay miles, it never hurts to clean every few thousand. If it looks dirty, then chances are it won't hurt to clean it.

Uh no. Unless you want to be charged an additional $75.

BTW, I wouldn't trust them to clean it. I doubt they would clean it since its aftermarket anyway!

you should clean "AFTER MARKET" cai filters every 15K. no need to do it every 5K. the 50k K&N refers to is for "STOCK" repalcment drop in filters. i think the K&N cleaning kit actualy says NOT TO clean them too often! something about the build up helping to stop small particals from coming through? take a look at the directions. be sure to dry your filter THROUGHLY before you oil it. then be SURE not to over due the oil as stiv stated! cleaning the maf is a PITA! but it can be done with a Q-tip and some alcohol. just be VERY careful!
