Thumbs up AAM SPEC Plenum Space !DYNO RESULTS!

Hey everyone!

Here are the awesome dyno results of the spacer. It took a little bit for the ECU to catch on, but when it did this thing just kept making power!

15.7 Peak Horsepower Increase
6lb/ft Peak Torque Increase

An AWESOME torque improvement across the board.

ok so now some questions

This fits on a Z hood right?

how does the crawford compare

I'm curious if this spacer can be used with the APS plenum on the Z and still have the hood close

Did you reset the ECU? How do you mean you had to wait for the ECU to catch on and how long did that take?

show us more dyno runs, not just one.

We're going to want multiple base dynos and multiple dynos with the spacer - not just the the worst base and best modded

Does this solution allow more airflow - ie bigger volume than a crawford or kinetix plenum?

how about a dyno from an independant source (member of the board) and how about a comparison to the crawford V5, which seems to be the benchmark for plenums.

also, the stock dyno numbers seem a tad low...dont u think. not saying u guys did, but most people dont respect companies that put out the lowest before dyno and the highest after dyno.

but congrats on the new product. its great to see more competition.

PRICE??? PRICE???? If its cheaper than the Crawford's Plenum, I'm ready to order. Let me know because Crawford is about to end their introductory price. Thanks

Base dyno reading appears to be the first pull, and I venture to guess the lowest @ reading #1.

Spacer mod dyno reading is #21 and of course it's the best right?

I want to see all of the plots. Infact I demand it!! Because I'm pretty interested in one of these things. And since it's all about performance the better performer, for the money, wins, yes sir!

Also I want to know what gear the pulls were done in.

Don't think so. This one has an angle to it. Looks like it would "level out" those front two cylinders. I like.

Wow great idea. Didn't even see that it was tapered until the last pictures, i just thought it was another, regular spacer. Awesome work AAM, now i don't need a new plenum.

While in some respects I agree with you, you have to think about the number of runs they took to get the ecu to readjust.

In respect to nuttyprof's post. I would also like to see a board member test it on there car as well. I might just have to be the turbo test dummy.

Yes, I'd like to see the full set of comparison dynos with stock and even with a Crawford, all on the same graph. Also the A/F for each. It just makes sense.

Thanks for the good words. We've been hard at work with this new addition to the AAM family of parts for the last few weeks (not really all of us, it was really just Alex "The Chevy Blazer DRFT King" working his butt off and showing his mad skills on the CNC Mill).

The reason for so many runs between the first run and the last run is because we did two baselines and then a host of other runs with two different styles of spacer and we found that the ECU was changing the maps dynamically almost on the fly. Each run just got better and better, regardless of other factors like heat soak, etc. What does this tell us? Do your mods, have a buddy drive it around and do 15+ WOT runs, then and only then should you jump in the seat.

We have no problem with an independent test, but it makes sense for us to test parts out ourselves before we go off on a wild goose hunt.

Obviously this new design makes power, just like a Crawford or a Kinetex. We just wanted to do it a different way, that will make some good power, save everyone some bucks, and hopefully go undetected by the stealer.

Yes, the design sure seems to make sense. Price and availability are the next factors. And thanks for the good info on the ECU adjustment and the timing between runs, etc.

Well, I didn't mean to sound so harsh. I apologize because I just reread my post and it sounded rough to me. Fact is I like your spacer and just want to be sure. 15+ rwhp just seems too good to be true. If it was 9 or 10 I would be thrilled. But 15!! I just want to know what was the true delta. Ovcourse we all want it to be like 15 but I just can't believe it.

regards

edit: Oh right and what gear did you guys do the pulls in?
