one thing for sure, I was checking to see if test pipes can pass emission, but from what I've heard, most likely not.. so if you don't want to remove them when doing your yearly inspection (emission test), I would recommend getting high flow cats instead... just passing the info along..
Is the installation can be done DIY or do you need to have it installed by a shop? If I can do it myself I wouldn't have any problems removing it to pass emisions each year. What tools are needed for the install? Thanks.

I thought about doing this with my current Helix pipes but 1 shop told me they wouldnt do it because the test pipes are not legal and they dont want to take the risk.

I would imagine it would sound better.

it may be "gay" but it is like a $10,000 fine if they are caught replacing stock cats with testpipes.

you won't get a fine just for replacing them, but you will get a fine if you drive on the city streets with them. It is perfectly legal to have them for sanctioned events off city streets. A shop should swap them out for you. Just tow the car there and back

Try taking the pipes to the shop without the car attached and see if they'll do it. Bet they will.

Here is the funny thing about that whole situation. The same shop I asked to add the resonators that said no was the same shop that installed my Injen exhaust while I already had the test pipes on the car.

They also said they couldnt do a swap on a friends Evo8. They had a problem that required dealer help and he was going to have his OEM exhaust put back on. The shop wouldnt touch his car because he didnt have cats. This was after they did my install. Needless to say, I will not be going there again for any exhaust needs!

ok, so has anyone tried to purchase the pipes through the streetcustoms-usa crew? i put an order in through their yahoo store monday morning and have yet to get a response back (not getting a good feeling on this). i'm about to just contact my bank and say the heck with it. if so, is the deal directly through megan racing still on for $120 shipped? i would feel a little bit more secure dealing with a shop that at least has a webpage (i guess i jumped the gun and bought on impulse- $115 shipped grabbed my attention).

damn, thats not a good sign. let me know what the outcome of the phone call is. i noticed their "ebay" store has an alternate email- but the actual mailto: address is the same as their yahoo page contact (that scares me). so nonetheless, ive sent them 2 emails so far, if i dont hear anything today ill contact my bank. hopefully we can still find a similar deal before the price gouging kicks in...
