Before submitting a group buy these guys should ship out valium suppositories to the buyers to prevent this "when do I get mine whendo I get mine" craze

Everyone needs to calm down and realize that the stuff will get there when it gets there.

The bitching and moaning will only slow down the process!

Dave, what's the deal on the wrong bolts thing? A few guys are saying the bolts that came with the spacer weren't correct. Has this been corrected and if so when?

Default Plenum Spacer Installed...

I installed my AAM plenum spacer today. Here are my thoughts.

Installation: First, the spacer is a thing of beauty. I love stuff that's done on a CNC machine. The instructions work as written (but the bolt size and qty. in the parts list is incorrect.)

I did, however, have to go out and buy quite a few more bolts because the stock bolts were not long enough. The kit came with six M6x30mm, but I found that I had to replace the back three center bolts (M6x60mm) with three M6x70mm. I could have used those 60mm bolts in the front three center holes, but wanted the heads to match, so I purchased an additional three M6x60mm too. I also had to purchase five M6x35mm bolts for the front-most connection points, since even the ones included in the kit were not long enough.

performance:It's too rainy here today to get on this thing and see what the butt dyno says. I did what I promised earlier, however. I went to my local DynoJet this morning before the install and got two pulls. I did two more pulls after the install. I also tested this mod with my G-Tech before and after. Here are the results of the two types of tests. Each display includes a pair of baseline runs from when the car was stock, then a pair this morning before the install, and finally a pair after installing the plenum spacer.

On the Dyno

What the G-Tech says

before you go asking all typical G-tech questions, yes it always shows lower net HP because of the aero drag of a moving vehicle.

So basically, the SAE corrected DyoJet says I gain approx. 5WHP and flatten my torque curve a bit. The G-Tech claims more like 9WHP, which after correcting for drag is more like 11-12WHP. I won't argue the difference in the tests in this thread, but I'll assume that the truth lies somewhere in the middle.

Am I happy with this mod. Yes, given the HP/$ ratio, it's not bad. I believe (and my data backs me up) that I really need an ECU reflash next to take advantage of the intake & exhausts mods I've got.

Would I recommend this mod? I'll have to say "It Depends" and leave it at that.

what are your other mods roark?

definitately will blow the 250whp mark with a reflash.

maybe the spacer needs to settle a little. Should have waited a couple of days for ECU to adapt before dynoeing. Good results nonetheless.

I got my kit yesterday, and as the same problem as roark, the proper bolts were not provided. For anyone who hasn't installed it yet, I highly recommend getting the bolts that roark stated above before you install. I found this out the hard way. I never removed my upper plenum before so I didn't know about the different sized bolts. Plus the instructions didn't state to use M6x70mm for the upper 3 center bolts. But no biggie, I'll just run to Home Depot and pick up the right bolts.

I plan on purchasing one of these in the future, hopefully they have the bolt situation corrected by then.

Thanks for the dyno chart, looks like a good mod!

Looking at it in person do you actually feel it distributes the air better across the cylinders? I'm more interested in this for my FI application, preventing the 5&6 cylinder lean condition...

Default AAM Spacer

Notwithstanding AAM's indication that there would be no fitment issues for 03 models, I had the same bolt issue as the above posters. I went to Home Depot and Lowes and an auto parts shop and could not find the M6x70 bolts. AAM - please send these bolts out to all of those that have already received (and picked-up) the spacer with the inapporiate bolts.
